Hi all, just thought I'd drop to moan about my thesis writing. Have written first drafts of lit review and methods, both panned pretty heavily by my supervisor. Now writing quant findings, hopefully will finish that today if I can stop procrastinating...
Terrified of starting my quant discussion. What am I going to say?
Thank you for the intelligent and well informed response AislingB. I am aware of how language rating operates, I'm a researcher in this area. One purpose of my research is to ascertain precisely how experience and training inform rating decisions. That is the reason I am trying to recruit novice raters.
Hello all
I'm researching how examiners make decisions in language tests. If you're interested in this and can spare about 60 minutes please get in touch.
The only criteria are:
- native English speaker
- age 18+
What you have to do:
- listen to recordings of people speaking in tests and give them a score
- talk about how you decided to give your scores
Thanks
Tom
Just leave it in and if anyone asks specifically about that section just be perfectly honest about it.
You could print fixed version of that graph on a normal sheet of paper to show anyone who wants to see that the inclusion of the wrong data doesn't effect the results too much.
I might have my interviews transcribed after I have done them. I work FT and do a PhD PT so don't really have a huge amount of time to make transcriptions - I would rather spend the time doing things no one else can do such as the lit review. I know it makes you closer to the interviews if you transcribe yourself but it would be interesting to get a sense of how much I could expect to pay.
Hi all
I'm doing a PhD related to psychology and am using Coolican's Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology for my info on stats and research methods. Is this enough for PhD level?
If not can anyone recommend a book that goes into sufficient detail for this level of research?
Thanks
