I'm in Leeds tomorrow too (but then, I'm there all the time!)

Hi, my name is Claudia. I'm 23 and at the end of my 2nd year Im doing a PhD in a medical field.... which does not mean that I have any medical qualifications

Well I've been with my boyfriend for nearly 5 and a half years and am nearing the end of my 2nd year of my PhD. We're doing ok
Yes some of the time there is a strain on our relationship - but I think it's more due to the fact that his brother is staying at our house (he was meant to live here for a few months to get settled, 9 months later he's still here) rather than my PhD

I haven't finished yet! With any luck I'll be done before I'm 25

I was 21. Which I think was maybe a bit too young (for me, anyway)

On a more cheerful note...They also don't tell you that supervisors aren't monsters

At least mine aren't.

Anxiety and weight gain...

Don't you just hate those days? Especially when it's just after xmas, meaning no work for a week or so anyway...
I'm in the 2nd year of my PhD and for a few months now I've just lost all motivation and interest. I feel like all I've done for that time is go on facebook, interspersed by a few experiments which have taken me no closer to finding any answers...

Have you tried finding a friendly postdoc or another lab member to ask questions?

Do you have the molecular weight of the substance?

Funny how there's so much variation..

It was about 40 pages long, with figs and refs. Not very exciting

I've had one week off since starting in October..

I get in at 8 and leave at 5:20. So I can get a lift home!
