I'm joining up too.

Today has not been a waste because I:
- Organised Project Management Tools, software and paper based
- Installed MS Office
- Tried to setup Outlook
- Asked at the forum about project management software
- Arranged to buy an office desk

Project Management Software
H

Thanks to both of you. I have downloaded a trial version of Project Management, but buying it is a bit pricey. Anyone use Mindjet MindManager for project management?

Project Management Software
H

Hi,

Which project management software do you use, why, and which one would you recommend? I am looking for one, preferably free, but can't decide on which one to use.

Thanks! :)

Gosh that is horrid behaviour! You should stand up for yourself. It doesn't mean if you are funded you should stay quiet. You are contributing to the UK academic circles and to your university, and thus you have a right to be here just like the rest of us.

Take her aside and give her a piece of your mind. If you feel like you can't do, talk to your supervisor or someone else you can confide in. They sure should help you out.

What happens to the pre-paid studentship if one leaves the PhD?
H

Quote From walminskipeasucker:

I think that you won't have to pay any of the studentship back for the time you've been registered, but they're usually paid for a few months in advance so you'll have to pay back any amount that covers the time you'll no longer be registered for. So, if you get a payment for 3 months and leave after 1 month, you'll owe two months-worth of the money back.

I see! Thanks :)

Academia in the middle east, would you?
H

The Middle East is such a broad term that it is difficult to give you advice unless you are more specific. I have lived in SA and Egypt, and personally I would recommend working there (in general, I'm not so sure about the academic circles). Most of the jobs are tax free, the climate is good, and though the culture is different, people are friendly and generally very accommodating and respectful.

The best bet would be to get a job with the American and British Universities there.

What happens to the pre-paid studentship if one leaves the PhD?
H

Hi,

I was just wondering what happens to a studentship if one leaves mid-way PhD?

Is there any situation where one would have to pay it back if one doesn't complete?

Just curious!

Some good news!

Congratulations :-)(up)

Greetings, I come from a developing country and I have applied to study an online PHD in Public health and my reserach topic is on maternal health of adolescent girls among the urban poor. The annual fees is abot 5000 pounds whic I cannot afford at all.Are there health organisations or any other institute that can provide funds for my studies?

Where is the university based? Have you tried organisations within your own country that could fund you? Maybe the ministry of development?
