i am addicted to facebook... anyone else hoooked????
anyone else staying up to get something done for tomorrow?Unfortunatly just can't seem to write!!! Its killing me!!! I don;t want to look this much longer. Oh well this thing isnt going to write itself....
I have to see my supervisor tomorrow and I don't want to show that I have been slacking - but unfortunatly shes gonna see the truth if i dont get myself into gear!
it will be fine! I am sure that this is just a blip in my phd experience! If it doesnt sorted in the next couple weeks will nag and nag.
hiya - i posted this in another thing. But i guess its more useful here:
i initiated a supervisor change. Now no one in my group is talking to me - especially the other academics. Which means none of them in my research group are agreein to supervise me. Which means i am annoyed and in need of screaming. I might have to move groups, which means moving seats etc. I am an academic outcast. Have already been told that unless I make an amazingly fantastic discovery i am no way staying on in acadmia. What joy.
Its difficult especially as I dont have a proper supervisor yet only my first supervisor who is in australia at the moment.

Life is great eh???
Group SCREAMMMMM AGRHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AGHR
no that doesnt feel better
hiya - what are the consequences of changing supervisors in terms fo getting otehr sueprvisors to say yes to taking you on, your reputation in teh department, will you still be able to work in that university if you change supervisors?! Ive heard rumors about how bad it is and yet i have just initiated a change.
I got really angry and went to the person in charge and said i either i change supervisor or i leave. They had no choice. I dont know who i will have. Confidence is at rock bottom but atleast it can only get better.
changing supervisor!
your probably correct. I dont know anymore. I will have a word with someone about it I just dont want to make a big deal or sound like a drama queen. But its my second year and I kind of need my confidence boosting.
ok maybe I am over-reacting at her comments. Sorry for being a drama queen.
ok - i have a very thick skin - but continuous comments like this from my supervisor are getting me down in a big way:
* There is no place for you in academia if you finish your phd.
* It is silly for you to even consider submittign a paper into ******* conference - you are not cut out for it.
* Why are you actually doing a pHd
* You do realise that what you have just written is the worst I have ever read.
OK IS THIS NORMAL?!???! If it is then these are my own insecurities annoying me - if not then what do i do as obviously there is only me and her in meetings and so its my word against hers.... who are they going to listen to?!
i think its great you get an hour!!!! I don't get that! If you need more then do ask... if they are unwilling to give you time then nag. Or e-mail loads. Dont stand for second best. I think supervisors forget what its like to be a PhD student.
I was assertive and have a formal meeting arranged! The busy supervisor said that I shouldnt hesitate to email if i need anything
It depends on the weather! I think if its a smart clothes conference it will say so otherwise... it doesnt matter. Academics are usually quite laid abck about this stuff...
well they are in computign@!
