filmfundi78, you can now see why I don't have a tv, so I don't have to watch or listen to this inane build up! Even if I hear it in town, or see decorations at work, I am almost blind to them. I did my shopping via the net, and got them sent directly, so mI don't ever have to see the gifts! I would rather give £100 to charity, than give presents, which for the most part people don't need...if I gave good will gifts to everyone, I would have several angry people, sigh.
I am going back "home" next Saturday via a lift from a family memember, and leaving the following Friday via train, so I can see a friend then on back to where I live (for friend read boyfriend, my family don't know, and would cause even more hooha). My family are guilt tripping already that the 29th is too early. I don't want to go back at all now, and I feel rotten.
Juno, you live in Lufbra to don't you? Have they pumped something into the waters this year, or is it I finally awoken and realised I am not alone in hating this period of the year!
Weather is great, sunshine, not overly warm but sunshine ya! Can you wake me on the 28th of december please, thank you
Can we ban from your list the invetable:
1. What you got for ****
2. What your new years resolutions are
I have them to...I used to have them before I started my PhD! I have had two half day training courses & a day's workshop this week, other than that I have done very little, and feeling guilty (granted I have a bad fluy cold)...I'm already onto bah humbug . Most folks are a looking forward to going "home", where as I know this is adding to my stress. My only consilation is, I have arranged what I wanted to do from the 28th/29th onwrds, and that is giving me hope.
Ah yes Miliport, where Glasgow ppl go for sunshine! I have found location matters if you want it to matter. Visiting the place for a few days, and see how you find it, if it seems to isolated and remote don't go. I live in Lufbra now, it is a small town but I have Nottingham, Leicester & Derby all near by if I want them.
Scotland is that remote, unless your phd is with the Highlands & Islands (I know folks who work for them & doing their PhDs). I am orginally from Scotland, so it isn't that remote in the major cities, Gla is good for Shopping, Edin (my home town) for culture, abdn for drinking (spent 5 happy years there), Dundee...some has to go there, Stirling lovely campus!
