I saw the funny side to your comment, you can clearly see why i missed my mistake in my equation. Im clearly inept at spelling and equations, oh lets not forget punctuation im going to give up now!!!!!
The good news, as well as me missing the mistake, the peers who reviewed my paper also did. This makes me feel a lot better and the realisation that any one can make a mistake. on the other hand well done on spotting a spelling mistake how very important much more important than peers spotting a mistake in a research paper. ha ha hope you see the funny side to this to!!!!!!
well folks
I think I had already decided what to do before posting but most of you have come to the same conclusion as me im coming clean. I have a meeting with my supervisor this afternoon so ill see what he thinks first. Im just worried ill come across as not capable as i shouldn't have made such a silly mistake.
Thanks for the advice
Hi ya folks
im two years in and just realised that i have made a fundamentle error in one of my calculations. I have had a paper published using this error in my equations and no one spotted it. My question is should i keep quiet and hope no one notices, as its been missed up to yet and include the error in my final thesis in the hope my examiners will also miss it. Or should i come clean change my last two years worth of work which will probally take a couple of months. I know its bad science to carry on ignoring it, just feel like im not bloody worth a PhD after making and missing such a simple mistake.
Teaching is great fun. I am currently doing 5 hours a week. As already mentioned it looks excellent on your CV. It does take a significant amount of prep time on average i do at least an hour for every hour i teach and more quite often. But its one of those things if it gets to much and starts to interfre with you PhD then quit teaching; your supervisor will understand im sure. Thats what i intend to do if it all becomes to much.
The trusty raceism card. I doubt this is the case very much. You may come across that you do not need help and others need it more. Did you ask to go to the confrence? I doubt it so stop moaning part of your PhD is becoming proactive and next time one comes up you want to go to fight your corner.
I see what you are saying 404 and i do agree with that. I just think maybe i was a little naive going into this project. I just can not see me being able to answer that question that has been set. I have discussed this with my supervisor but he seems to think everyhting is fine. So im jsut trusting his judgment really and hoping that in my second year i will work harder and things will go a bit faster for me. Then touch wood, in three years time i will have managed to draw some conclusions relevant to my question. But i doubt it very much
