Yes who's to say that their job means they are stuck and not happy. Its quite a narrow minded view to have, its a relative thing saying "being stuck and im glad that i got out". Yes stopping where you were brought up in your eyes might not be a good idea, but to other people it may be what they want and they do not see it as a rut. So get over your self importance im better than you attitude. I get annoyed by people like you!!!!

IM 6 months in and bored of the whole PhD process. Is this normal, im not bored of the suject area. Just the waiting around for things to come through and be made so i can continue my research. I have now waisted two weeks waiting for something to be made by a company. I just get annoyed cause i just want to crack on. Any else having this problem. Its so frustrating!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I left a good paid job to do a PhD, im now 6 months in and no regrets even though money is a little tight. If you have always wanted to do one and money doesnt bother you do it. of course its stressful and there will be times when you think what am i doing. But its worth it.

Well i am now 5 months in and i feel havent really done anything constructive yet. I have been reading up on my topic and am still no nearer to understanding some of the key theroetical concepts. I have plenty of results, but they do not seem relevant to my project, although my supervisor keeps telling me they do. Im feeling deflated, any suggestion on how to keep looking forwards and keep a positive attitude.
