Thanks Bilbo, I am doing as you advised. I am writing my last chapter up, and in between, when tired or need a brak, i am moving to appendices and references, both of which are almost complete so hopefully that will make me feel better. My sup has promised feedback in the next few days, if it is only minor it should be fine, but i half expect him to want me to redraft large sections at this late stage - I am not complaining about my sup at all, he has been helpful and supportive, but very busy and sometimes I have to wait a long time for comments. I suppose all I can do is ensure I give something in on time, even if I have not had final comments. I hadn't thought about title pages, will have to try and find out what the requirements are! Any one else have any advice it would be most most welcome!

Hi everyone. I am writing this as a diversionary tactic from doing what I should be doing, which is frantically trying to write up my last chapter. I have to submit 29th Oct, and feel as though I am not going to be ready. I have an intro/lit review and method chapter with final amendments to work on, and the best part of the final analysis chapter to write up (yikes) which is fairly long going. I still waiting for feedback on my three long results chapters from my supervisor and will have to make any amendments to those in this time too. The last week isn't a full week for me as it takes 3 days for binding etc. I am really starting to think this is not possible - I work full time and cannot get any time off at all. I can't not submit after 7 years, and have already had an extension. Help!

The "oh &*%£$!!! my supervisor has given me 4 weeks to write up" thread

Hi everyone, I am in a similar position. I have six weeks to write up and get it bound etc, and I am away on holiday for 10 days from Sunday too (booked 18 months ago, not realising.....
I have got
Intro and lit review - I would say 80% done - awaiting feedback
Method - done and approved - just formatting etc
Results section 1 - 70% done
Results section 2 - 90% done
Results section 3 - not started, but intend to write while on holiday
Discussion - not yet started, but have detailed plan

I guess it doesnt look too bad, but on top of my holiday, I am working full time! I am aiming to pull a few all nighters before I fly out on Sunday (I am off work Thursday and Friday) and having the results section 1 and two boxed off, plus the intro feedback I will get this week a good way done. If I can get the section 3 results done while on hols, that gives me 4 weeks to complete my discussion chapter, which is a biggie, but at least once your head is in it you can get on with it.

Good luck everyone

number of references

I am getting my references together alongside trying to write up - it is an ideal task for when I am all written out! I am amazed how many there are - is it just me or do you all have hundreds?

I am so afraid.

Hi there.

I just wanted to offer my sympathy and support. You can do it, or you can have a really good try. Clear your diary as much as possible, ask family and friends for support, and to take on whatever they can do for you. Switch the phone an internet off. Make a large pot of coffee (if you drink it) and set yourself a target for each day. Do the hard bits in the morning (the rewrite?) and the easier bits in the afternoon. After coming this far, I am sure you will do it. Let us know each day how you are getting on.
Best of luck. I know what you mean about feeling pacicky and afraid - I feel like that too. If I get to the end of this without ruining my health I will be pleased, but keep telling yourself it is worth it. Go and do some of it now. PM me anytime

Oh Amy, how do you manage! Makes me feel really bad for complining. I know that if you can get through all that you can certainly finish your studies! Best of luck I know you can get there. I had a day off today, but will be back to it tomorrow. I work 60 hours a week so I usually try and do a bit in the office when no-one is looking!

Thanks Amy. I appreciate your support. I hope you are getting on OK. Does anyone else find themselves with 2 months to go and workingfull time? Do yu ever wish you had not started something?

I am taking the fact no-one has responded as a very bad sign that you all think I am doomed.
Either that, or you are all working away on your writing in which case well done!

I will just do what I can, and if it is not ready, put it down to experience. Over and out, and good luck

Hi everyone. I have not posted here before but have recently discovered the forum and have been reading posts. I am a PT PhD student, at the end of a long 6 years, with a final submission date at end of October. It has been a struggle, I have had to move house due to aggressive neighbours, a member of my family has had major surgery, mu supervisor was off sick for a very long time and other family mambers have been very ill. At the same time, as work (I have worked full time all the way through) I have gone from working on my own to managing a very busy team and seeing my resposnibilties evelate to terrifying proportions! Enough of a moan, I am just hoping for some support! I have a nearly final draft method chapter, a fairly well advanced intro and lit review, an almost finished results and a virtually unwritten discussion! Does anyone this I can actually do this?
