MSc Epidemiology: LSHTM or Imperial

My husband enjoyed the course and says he was happy with it - but that was quite a while ago (15+ years, eek!), so obviously he doesn't know how/if it has changed now! Good luck with whatever you decide to do. :-)

My husband did a masters in epidemiology at LSHTM, I will ask him what he thinks when he gets back. :-)

Anyone got access to ESDS?

I *think* I'm in - which part do you need? I don't think it's just one document that I can email to you.

Have you got a link for it? I'll have a look. :-)

Transcribing interviews
M

Thanks everybody! :-) I've transcribed the interview using Transcription Buddy, which worked very well. :-) What was really difficult though was that the sound quality was pretty bad. There were quite a few bits I couldn't understand. :-( There seems to be a problem with our phone - it works well most of the time, but sometimes it's really bad. Anyway, I think I've got the most important bits now! Of course, reading the transcript now I can see where I should have asked more questions or probed a bit deeper. And there are far too many 'ummms' and 'yeahs' from me. :$ I guess it's a learning process - onward and upward! :-)

Can anybody recommend software (?) that slows down / automatically stops an audio recording to make it easier to transcribe it? I know this was mentioned in a recent thread, but I can't find it! :-)

It might be a valuable antique. ;-) But (have I mentioned this before?) it works very well. :-);-)

Got the job :)))

The best photo I could find is on this page http://www.dictationworld.com.au/products/accessories/index.html , 6th down on the left (Acoustic Coupler 163). They probably don't even make them anymore. :$ But it works very well!

The gadget I have is actually less high-tech. It doesn't plug into the phone line but fits over part of the telephone receiver (the bit you put up against your ear - I'm sure there is a proper word for it!). :-)

Brilliant, thank you! :-)
