Well done Eska for your hard work!
Sorry things are not going well yr end Ady and I hope things improve soon;-) could it be that the laptop's memory is a bit full? That's what my old laptop does when it can't cope. Maybe emptying temporary folders/bin etc and defragmenting could help? Not sure about language setting and internet I'm afraid but I wonder if your internet provider might help if you call them about the issues you're having and just casually mention the non-connection issues 'because you're not sure if it's related' or maybe your uni's IT?
Batfink, you sound so relaxed!! I wish it'd rub off on me!! I'm soo stressed!
Finished my reviewing though. Goals now:
1) Have lunch - i'm starving!
2) Read through the revised versions of the two chapters I've been working on
3) Write a bit more on my introduction
4) Start revising another chapter
Hi Wombles,
I'm sorry you're struggling with your PhD at the moment. I'm afraid mine is on a completely different area so I can't help you directly... but when I was struggling with a particular aspect I started contacting people in the fielf asking for help. I received mixed responses, some polites 'Sorry I can't help you' but others helped me or gave me names of others who they thought could help me. I'm not sure if this is an option at all for you...
Let us know how it goes and good luck!
Eska, don't be so impressed, it wasn't the whole chapter, just parts of it. I didn't manage to do the second one in the end as a friend called with a crisis so I ended up spending 3 hrs on the phone...
The second chapter will have to wait till tomorrow now:-(
I have two supervisors and both have received every single draft. They generally agree on the most things and when they don't, I email them with my query and we have a discussion around it. All very healthy and helpful! It's a bit like buy one get one free! Lol it is double the work though...
Just remember that they're advising you and the research is yours so you only need to take on board what you wish, but generally speaking I normally encourage people to listen to their sups as usually they have more experience and want what's best for us.
