Yeah, I am very positive these days. Had a feedback for chapter 7 as well. It seems I am on the right track now. Re-working on chapter 9 & 10 these days which I am going to submit in a month time. By that time, my all 5 analysis chapters will be complete. My sups are very supportive...that is the only thing which keeps me going. I hope you will get the feedback for your draft soon.
Hi Cindrella,
Thanks. That sounds great...you are doing good. I had a sup meeting today for the 2nd analysis chapter. I got nice feedback on it. One of my sup said that I have matured (in terms of analysis) a lot from the last meeting which was a month back. From tomorrow, I am starting to restructure/rewrite next two chapters which are due in a month of time. I will be then be done with 5 analysis chapters !
Hi all,
After restructuring/rewriting 2 analysis chapters, I feel drained for the two other chapters...looks like I am losing motivation again ! I have been working on the 3rd analysis chapter but finding hard deleting almost all what I have written so far and completely creating a new looks for it. Not matter what, I have been playing around the data and progressing slooooowly.
Hi Determined_daisy, Nice to hear from you. I submitted chapter 7 the day before y'day and feeling relieved. In the mean time had feedback for chapter 8. Very happy to see sups pleased with my analysis this time. Now chapters 9 & 10 to restructure/rewrite. Hoping to finish in three weeks time. When r u expecting to get feedback? Hope, sups won't take long time.
I did 8 FGDs, participants ranged from 8-12 in a group - rural, urban and specialized groups. It was not easy handling different groups in different locations. Regular follow ups is very important. I started planning for FGDs 3 months ahead of the actual time and completed all 8 groups in 10 days as every single day I had one discussion in different locations - city, villages. It depends upon the type of research you are conducting. It is always better to try to get hold of a strong gatekeeper even though you know the participants individually. Topic guide, information sheets, questionnaire were made ready around 2 months ahead, sent invitation a month ahead and followed up and reminder sent continuously despite having strong gatekeepers for all 8 groups. The most challenging part in FGD is having all people in one place. I always feared that the participants won't turn up so sent invitations to around 15 people so that I had a balance of 8-12 as many did not turn up even though confirmed earlier. Having a good recorder is very important as transcribing FGDs are more problematic than interviews since many people talk at the same time in many instances. Hope it helps. I used 'transcription buddy'. You can download from http://www.download.com. Search 'transcription buddy' in there. After you download, it will give you a free 30 day trial. Uninstall it once the trial finishes and repeat the process afterwards to install again. I got the tips from this forum and found this very useful !
