Hi Human, I just had meeting with my supervisor regarding viva. I emailed her earlier saying that I have some questions for which I need her help to answer. I showed her some questions and asked whether my answers were correct. She gave some suggestions to deal with few quesitons. I was also really worrried for some errors I spotted in my thesis. I did mention her abt them and she asked me to remain cool and no need of giving list to the examiner before the viva. She said to keep the list with me and if asked discuss with examiner otherwise correct it later when the examiners will give any other corrections (it is very likely that they will ask for some changes as per her experience). I felt a lot better after seeing her. My viva date was confirmed but just now she showed me the room and said what time I have to be here in Uni. Swetch
Thanks Catalinbond & Dalmation for yr suggestions. Have listed 12 errors...still coming up as re-reading is ongoing. Apart from some typo, spelling & data citation, I found that some of the references I put in the chapter are not exactly where it has to be. Bit worried: how do I say that I put that in confusion, by mistake!
Just 2 weeks to viva & seems I am forgetting faster than ever. Writing few key points while reading so that I quickly read few days prior to viva. There are so many refereces, having not much time to review even some imp ones...terrified!!! Swetch
I am also in the same state...I asked my friend and she said not to mention until the examiner says anything abt it but take the list with me. I am still not very convinced...I am seeing some more errors after re-reading. Hope, others in the forum will advice us how to handle this. Swetch
I applied for a researcher role. Since I do not have paper published yet, they are asking me to send the conclusion chapter from my thesis. Do you feel comfortable sending the entire chapter when u are not yet done with the Viva? Need suggestion please!
Swetch
Hi Nearlyfinished,
Thanks for your suggestions. Yeah, definitely its not possible to read all the references. I got my viva date today - it is on 2nd November. It's scary to think of the viva day. When is your viva? I have now started re-reading my Thesis from today. I plan to finish the first round in 5 days and underline the key points. I will be also reading the key references from tomorrow every evening. After re-reading once, I am going to compile all the questions I collected from various sources - viva workshops, forum, books, friend's list and try to fit my answers. Thereafter I will be writing answers to the questions...then practice. Swetch.
Hi NearlyFinished and all,
I am also nearing my viva and thought to join this thread. I have submiited nearly 2 weeks back. viva is likely to be either in the first or third week of November. still have not got the fixed date. Currently, I am reading the book by Tinker and Jackson. Have not yet opened my thesis after submission but planning to start reading my thesis from tomorrow. Do you read or plan to read all the papers referenced? Or, papers by examiners? I look forward for your suggestions and ideas. Thanks, swetch
