Searching for postdocs

T

Hello,
I know about job.ac.uk but can anyone share any other websites that include a search engine/postings for postdoc opportunities, in particular ones that are international or countries than the UK?
I've tried "https://www.findapostdoc.com/", but it only yielded about 50 and none were in my research field.
Thanks in advance!

I've been a bit more persistent in my Google search and found some. It seems that you need to search country by country to really find what is out there. If anyone knows a better way, please let me know! Have a great Sunday!

This one allows you to search for academic jobs, including post-docs, or sign up for alerts. It seems to cover all of Europe and a lot of other countries.

Thank you! I had not encountered this one previously!

I have! Thank you though Tru : )

Researchgate has job listings.
Linkedin is always worth a look too.
The problem is that any job already listed is likely to have been spotted by others.
You might get more luck identifying specific researchers and approaching them with a view to putting in a funding request somewhere.
Alternatively pester your supervisor to recommend you to a group. A good supervisor should help you find postdoc through their own networks.

Thanks for the advice. My supervisor situation is a little unique!

P

Ah yes, I forgot about that. OK scratch the supervisor bit......

Hi TQ,

I was recently offered a postdoc position and waiting to hear back from another one, both of which I found on professional listservs. If I remember right, you are in Psychology? APA has listservs for different sub-areas of Psychology (e.g., Division 8 - social psych). Big names in the field (from both EU and US) seem to be advertising available positions on these servers. I definitely think it's worth having a look!

Thank you! I would never have found this without the tip off!

Many congrats on your postdoc position offer!

Best of luck, TQ!

T

Thanks! I've sent you a pm. Hope that's OK!

I would recommend you to check popular sites like ResearchGate, Nature, and Science for postdoc positions first. Apart from these, you can also check some of the other websites listed below:

http://www.scientifica.uk.com/research-jobs
https://www.postdocjobs.com
https://www.eurosciencejobs.com
http://academicjobs.wikia.com/wiki/Academic_Jobs_Wiki

Furthermore, make sure you visit the webpages of promising mentors that interest you, and write to them directly. This works very well quite often!
