I also have a lot of work during the holidays. I have to write something, whatever I want (I am in my first year), about 5000 words. I find it difficult as I want to write so many things, and I don't know how to write something which is not specific.
And I have to write a proposal for a conference I want to participate.
Both of them by the 8th of January!!!!
It's a bit tight but I believe I can do it, or rather I HAVE to do it!!!
As I am writing on the title I am looking for a particular movie. I don't know its title, but I have seen the last scene many many times in other movies. It's a black& white movie, where, in the last scene, a family (?) is sitting around the tree, a bell rings and the father is saying "When a bell rings, an angel is getting his wings" (or something similar).
Can someone tell me which movie is it? I really want to watch it!
thanks :-)
I know what you are talking about, too. And when I was reading Neena's post I thought I was reading mine. The only difference was that my flatmate was on the same course as me and that I was being attacked on a personal level, too, because I had a boyfriend (what a bad and unethical thing!!!!). The funniest was that one day she came into the kitchen and said that my boyfriend's presence was insulting HER, because I was never studying and I was passing my modules!!! I was just ignoring her and laughing! That's the best you can do.
Last Saturday, a 15-year-old child was murdered by a policeman in Athens. Since then, thousands of people have been demonstrating against violence throughout the country. Some of them, due to their life circumstances (low wages, governmental corruption, unemployment, uncertainty about the future) have broken a lot of windows, banks and governmental buildings.
It is a very sad thing to see what is happening at the country that has a long tradition of democracy. You have probably already watched images on BBC and SKY news. Everything is true!
I want to say my experience, too. I am in my first year of my PhD. I live not in another part of the UK than my uni is, but in another country. I have very good communication with my supervisors and we arrange our meetings a long time beforehand so that I acn make travel arrangements. Of course, it helps that I am a part-time student.
It is difficult, but I believe it can be done if you want to do it.
I'm in my second month too, although I'm studying part-time. I have to prepare a form for my official registration. My supervisors have told me that it's very good, but they want it to be perfect :-( So, I'm just about to e mail them my fourth draft. It has been quite hard, as I had to explain my theory and my proposed methodology in 3 pages maximum, and above all give them an idea of the situation that exists in the country where the research will be held. But I believe that I did it! And what is more important I like it!!!!!!
:-)
Good luck everybody!!!
Well, I did two masters full time working full time as well. It was difficult, as my first language is not English and I needed more time to read than an English-speaking needs. But I did it and now I am a PhD student (part-time now). If you want it you can do it
I have a question and I would be very pleased if someone could satisfy my curiosity.
I know it may seem silly to some of you, but I was wondering, we all have our own DNA. But, what happens if someone gets a transplant? what happens if he gets a bone marrow transplant? Does he have 2 DNA's?
Sorry, if this is silly. It's been in my mind for a few days.
Biology is not my subject, so I may have misunderstood some things.
Thank you!!
Goodmorning to all of you!
I am a new PhD student as well. I have just started my lit review. It's difficult, as I am based in a foreign country and my university is in London, but I like my subject, my supervisors are wonderful and very helpful, I have already read a lot and I believe I can do it!!!!
Let's hope I WILL do it!
Good luck to everyone
