My 2nd PhD interview
G

ı think the answer is mostly ''No''. the interview is only based on your study (what did you do so far, skills etc..) and your aim of the future phd. I think the most ımportant thıng ıs your study.. you had interview experience so dont be very excited.. believe in yourself

thıs fund is marie curie.. quitting current phd and enroll phd position which offers me marie curie fellowship.??? it is possible to get the position if ı am accepted?

Quote From TheEngineer:
I see no reason why you should not take up a funded position IF you get it. But bear in mind that competition for EURAXESS (Marie-Curie) is quite stiff. The incentive for those positions is quite appealing even better than some Lecturer positions, so you should expect some competition. For now concentrate on your current position, don't lose track until you get the funded post.

ı dont have any funding for my PHD now but ı found a PHD position which offers me a salary. I want to apply . If ı am accepted, I quit current phd and enroll phd position which offers me a salary. but in job description, it says

''Early stage researcher is a researcher who, at the time of recruitment by the beneficiary, has not yet been awarded the doctorate degree and is in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent) of his/her research career''

can it be a problem for me ? it is okay to apply to phd programme which offers me a salary???

Quote From BilboBaggins:
Are you relying on getting funding for your new PhD? If so what funding have you already? If you currently have research council funding then you are very unlikely to get that again in a second PhD. Can you self fund? There are other funding options which may not be so restricted, such as university scholarships, but even with these the staff may not look kindly on someone who has walked away from one PhD.

I did just that, but in my case it was because I fell long-term ill with a progressive neurological illness similar to multiple sclerosis. I had funding for the first full-time science PhD from EPSRC. Years later I applied for funding for a part-time history PhD from AHRC. The application form asked me to declare what past funding I had received from research councils, and warned that my award now would be reduced because of any of this. It is not a good idea to lie on these forms! I declared everything, and explained my circumstances. I was very lucky, they awarded me full funding for the second PhD, which I completed. Though I initially started self-funding, and expected to self-fund throughout.

ı also wonder that.. ıf somebody know this, it can be useful for me too ..

can you drop out of a PhD, then re apply to do another one some where else , or does the fact that you have been on a PhD programme already go against you

How long would it take to hear PhD interview response?

Hi all,

I was short-listed and I had an PHD interview nearly 3,5 weeks ago. After an interview, I sent a thank you notes to my interviewers and got one email back

''you were ranked on the third position. We will keep you informed about further decisions.''

The point is I never heard anything back from them only one after an interview.

Should I be patient or should I send a mail if they made a decision unofficially ? What can I do now?

Thanks you all.
