I am going into a student studio flat aimed at postgrads opposite the uni. Very quiet so will be good for getting work done and only 2 mins away so i can pop into the lab when i need to.
I'm lucky in the way that I already know a few people at the uni so won't miss out on the social aspect of living with people :-)
The only reason I am is that when stuck in work with not a fat lot to do it keeps me occupied! Otherwise I would be out there frolicking with the best of them!
Well done! I'm also starting my biological sciences phd in october :-)
I am both lucky and unlucky that my temp contract runs up to october but it's so boring doing admin in an office. Need to be in the lab!
I've set myself a target of reading and keeping brief notes on at least 2 papers a week on the run up to starting. Hopefully this will mean I don't walk in on the first day and have a blank look on my face.
I do admit it is a bit niche ;)
For me it would have to be a dark trance/psy trance mix by either my wonderful other half or John 00 Fleming :)
There is nothing like the energy in fleming-esq trance for me!
A bearded dragon!! They are amazing lizards that are very easy to look after as long as you don't mind feeding them crickets and locusts :)
I have a few and love watching their antics as they are inquisitive critters.
I'm going to be in science and mine will be a combination of the uni, myself the research council and the company that is part of the CASE studentship.
Oh :( I'm sorry to hear that.
There must have been some positivity from them surely.....
You're welcome.
Let us know how it goes
Not long to go then!
I am starting mine in october but went through the interview process earlier this year. They are definately not out to get you like i thought originally. I was very nervous and just talked nonsense for ages but the sup calmed me down :)
I'm sure you will be fine :) Just try to stay calm!
What area is the PhD in?
Hi Everyone,
I have just got news that I have been successful in securing BBSRC funding for my project to start in october 2010!! :)
Is anyone able to tell me how funding usually works from BBSRC? Is it paid quarterly in advance or monthly? I need to know for the accomodation contract but haven't yet received the contract for the studentship.
Has anyone else had confirmation that they were successful yet?
Thanks,
Jenn
