Hi PB, thank you so much for the reply.
It would be great if you could you be specific about what using two methods offer you that you couldn't have got from one method in isolation?
Also am I right in assuming that you felt that there were no more challenges faced taking this approach as there would have been using a single method?
Thanks again,
If anyone else has a view please feel free to share :)
Jo
Hi all,
I am writing a conference paper on the challenges and opportunities of using Mixed-methods research at a doctoral level and I was wondering if any of you would consider sharing some of your views? I am defining mixed methods as research that combines qualitative and quantitative methods within a single study.
All data will be anonymous, and your screen names will not be used. So if you are using/ have used mixed methods for your PhD please feel free to respond to this thread and share your experiences of the methodological challenges and opportunities,
I look forward to hearing from you J
It does sound really good- What about personal fitness or walking. Often people associate physically active people with proactivity in the workplace/(study place?). Maybe something like Politics or Philosopy too. Dont lie tho because the people interviewing you will know how to 'read' people, and will see straight through you x
You obviously think alot of yourself and your opinion, and thats fine, but forgive me for not taking your advice due to your lack of judgement (thinking that this was a fake blog and trying to 'expose me). Im a good student, i work hard, and im praised for that, but like most PhD students i have days when my mind is overworked and im not productive. Im not ashamed of this, and i dont think i have said anything to incriminate myself. In fact i think what you have said has only reflected badly on you
Why does that make you suspicious? I love what i do, and im very good at it, but im just not a stereotypical academic. Im sure there are many other PhD students who are just regular people with a passion who sometimes feel out of their depth. Im just bluntly honest about my insecurities and how i handle my PhD
