I agree. I have also sat in on the presentations, and I would think 20 - 25 mins would be appropriate.
The panel don't want to be bored! They just want to get a sample of your ideas, work and style not every detail.
It an opportunity to show yourself off and your personality and that you would be an asset to the department. If you can leave them wanting more you've done a good job!
Good Luck!
Hey everyone,
This is a question for the girls! What do you wear to a conference dinner and reception?
I'm 24 so want to dress my age and look good but look appropriate. I can't ask my supervisor as it wouldn't really be a topic that we would discuss!
I don't particularly like to wear black and I'm not a person who wears business type clothes or formal trousers. I would prefer smart jeans and heels or dresses but not trousers if you understand what I mean???? I'm quite tall so trousers aren't really a look that suits me.
Can I wear a top and smart jeans with heels to the reception? (I'm guessing these are normally quite casual?)
Is a knee length dress best to wear to the dinner?
Thanks everyone!
Thanks everyone! I have a presentation coming up soon so am a bit nervous about it! I don't mind answering the questions its giving the presentation that makes my very uneasy! In general I'm a confident outgoing person, but turn into the exact opposite when I have to present. Is there anybody who felt like this who can now give a confident presentation? Is there hope for me????
So I'm really not the only one that feels like I wasted a year???!!!!
I also have my upgrade next week and am so worried about it! I feel like I know nothing and that everyone else around me is doing just fine....
I really have not achieved much in first year and feel under so much pressure now. I don't see how i'll get my upgrade and every actually get my PhD!
