I've just recieved this

Today I have finally received the letter from the ESRC. The breakdown of the grading for your application is as follows:

Candidate Grade: A
Project Grade: A-
Supervisor Grade: A
Overall Grade: A

I thought you might like to know that the letter states that “for 2010 we received 440 applications for consideration. The quality was extremely high and we only had sufficient funding to make 85 awards to the very best A+ candidates. Indeed, we were not in the position to fund all the A+ applications.”"

Looks like Royal Mail screwed up. Killahtron, i assumed you'd heard - I emailed ESRC ([email protected]) and asked her direct what my result was cos the letter hadn't arrived, it was her that told me i didn't get it.
Send an email or two. Fingers crossed

got an interview for a £20k starting salary job on friday - looks promising (and its not graduate sales!!) things could be worse I suppose

Given what Licky said yesterday, I'm going with accepting I've not got it - and if I have then great. I'll still be gutted when the email comes, but the mourning period won't last as long this way.

Got email from Nom Con backup - post has arrived today and no sign of ESRC paperwork.

Oh crap........................

I've had further Nom Con backup response. The post has been delivered and the ESRC paperwork was NOT in there. Judging that it was posted Monday, and first class is usually next day, I can only assume that it will now be tomorrow :-s.

At least I can now definitely expect an answer in the next 24 hrs. Probably the same for the rest of you too. The Edinburgh letter must have gone out Friday.

Well if Royal Mail can get letters right up the country, you would think they can get them to the rest of England! Lets hope they (no pun intended) deliver.

One one person so far has posted that they have heard. ESRC posted letters to uni's on Friday and Monday 1st Class, so all unis should have the results today (royal mail issues notwithstanding). You won't annoy your department, the Nom Con is for the WHOLE UNI, so your dept won't even know you're pestering. And us lot have been pestering for a week so don't worry!!!

Just emailed my Nom Con's backup (cos she's off all week), and he hasn't had anything through yet. I'm currently contemplating chewing my knuckles off - the fingernails went ages ago!

Which Institution did you apply from?

Have they had todays post though? If not, then it could be on the way to them as we type....

I would wait til youknow people are hearing the news, and then ring the Nom Con telephone number and basically demand to know. You can't be left hanging til September (an ESRC Nom Con who works Term Time? Ludicrous).

Still waiting to hear.............:-(

They may work THIS Tuesday instead of another day - based on the results being out. Live in hope!
