Congratulations! Enjoy your break and then crack on with the corrections!
Most of the corrections I was asked to make after my recent viva regarded the literature review so I think I can safely say that my examiners read it!
A car isn't necessary if you have good transport links and are near facilities. I didn't buy my first car until I was 37! I agree that I wouldn't really want to live on campus as a mature student.
Yippee!! I am sitting here with a big grin on my face and I don't even "know" you - you must be over the moon! Huge congratulations! I am so glad that you got the right result and that the nightmare is finally OVER!
Hi Faded. I got my corrections approved so I am officially done! I really hope you get a positive answer very soon too.
It seems a bit drastic to sell your house unless you really need the money - couldn't you rent it out instead?
I agree that you absolutely need to get ethics clearing from your university about this. However, I am a bit confused about your reasons for not transcribing - surely if you are doing the translation, you understand the language so could transcribe it? I found transcription hard work but ultimately rewarding - so much comes out of the transcription process itself that I couldn't imagine letting someone else do it, although I suppose it also depends on the type of analysis you are going to use it for.
Faded - thinking of you. I am waiting to hear whether my admendments have been accepted and it is all I can do not to check my email every five minutes! I don't know how you must be feeling on tenterhooks all this time!
Hope you get an answer soon - fingers crossed!
I was still writing my conclusion the night before I gave it in - asking around, it seems that this is pretty common. My usually super-organized husband was still writing his conclusion the morning before giving it in! Ha! You can do it. (Also I am sure you have already done this but have you factored in printing times? If you have to get it printed and bound by a specific supplier that might also take longer than you expect).
Congratulations! You are almost there now so put the negative comments out of mind and concentrate on that!
I agree with Tru. I think it sounds very positive. I know it sounds strange that they say it is up to you whether to do the added corrections but thinking about it, it would be very undiplomatic to say "nah, scrap those!" It sounds like they are trying to bring this to a satisfactory conclusion without anyone losing face.
I've got my fingers crossed!
Congratulations Hayley! I too have finished since posting on this thread although it took me a lot longer- I think you did very well to finish it before your baby arrives - much more sensible!
I had a similar experience on this site. I got stuck with the software I was working with and googled for solutions. It came up with a post of MINE on here, detailing how to resolve the problem! Not only had I forgotten how to solve the problem, I had forgotten even having the problem before!
