Approximate requirements for Post-Doc position
U

Agree with TreeofLife although I've never heard about teaching experience either. Publication is desirable and something to confirm your CV but it's counted only when you are the first author. I got my job before publishing my PhD work btw. I think people will judge your experience, passion and motivation based on the CV and cover letter, and importantly on what are written on the references. Also it's always good if your potential boss knows your referee(s).

PhD submitted - no examiner?!
U

Hi Panny, sorry to hear about your situation. Which uni you are studying? To my knowledge, most uni in the UK requires all info about your PhD viva (thesis title, abstract, expected dates for thesis submission and PhD viva, details of examiners, etc.) provided at least 2 months before you submit your thesis. So your case sounds totally abnormal. You can contact the Director of Postgraduates or talk to your co-supervisor or advisor for help. Meanwhile, try to approach your supervisor again and again, asking him to choose the examiners (or you can propose some) and invite them to be your examiners. Strikingly, you can submit the thesis and have your PhD viva without your supervisor's approval (although it is NOT recommended as you will likely need his/her reference for future job application) but you still need him/her to contact the potential examiners - so be patient and act wisely!!! All my best wishes!

Visa to UK
U

Hi Lafur, both visa types allow you to come to the UK for a certain time according to the length of your visit (mentioned in the invitation letter maybe) and for up to 6 months, and none of them will allow you to have paid work. For me, they do the same job but if you are expecting to do some practice, the academic visa may suit most. Good luck!
