Ouch, talk about premenstrual aggression.
I'm with you two! I'm absolutely crap during the day, don't really manage to get much done. However at night, for some reason, I can get loads done.
The poo has hit the fan and now I know I'm not a man. I've got a stack of work and it's sending me beserk. If only I could fly, I give the middle finger and wave bye bye. Arrrgghhh! Well even if I don't manage to pass my PhD, I'll just become a singer and model myself on...erm...Morrissey. I'm sure that even my song writing talents are better than my academic ones. Ahem...
At about 11-30 am, after I've finished watching The Jeremy Kyle Show and doing pointless other things like counting birds in my garden. I'm a master procrastinator and I'm going to have to sort it!
Lol. So it's not just me then! Tickly cough, thick green phlegm and a dripping nose. Still...must...soldier...on...
I didn't actually know this myself until recently but spiders in the UK are actually capable of biting and drawing blood. I only ever thought it was the tropical ones that were capable of that, so I have a newfound respect for them! Anyroad, Bill Odie(?) says that it's not that spiders are getting bigger, it's just that the weather is getting warmer, there's thus more food, and so more of them are growing to maximum size. At least it's not centipedes that appear to be getting larger - that would be bad.
The Bluetones are ace and I listen to them regularly, but today it's my current favourite band: The Veils.
I'm now listening to Chris Isaak, a legend in his own time. I may follow it up with a little bit of Beck or maybe a splash of James. I just don't know...
Thank your for your help, Shani and Pea. I'll give them a call today and find out the situation. If it differs at different places there's no way of knowing until I ring up.
Hi everyone, I'm due to start work as a graduate teaching assistant when I begin my PhD around mid-September and I can't wait, but I'm a little confused about how the wage I get works. I get in the region of 12.5 K a year but is this paid monthly or per term or anything different? I'm trying to sort how I'll manage my finances and I'd really appreciate it if anyone at all can shed any light on this. I could ask the administrative department at my uni but I don't want to look more of a Dufus than I already am!
Thanks everyone.
I'm listening to some 5, 50 Pence, Snoop Dawwwg and a light helping of Vanilla Ice!
I don't really post at the moment as I don't feel I have enough experiences or enough happening currently that is valuable to hear. However, after reading your post, Pinkneuron, I know exactly what you're going through as something very similar happened to me. I worked very hard, got high marks, drew up a project and never managed to get funding a couple of years ago. I was really upset, angry and pessimistic for a while. But I got myself together, carried on and have now managed to get a Phd position for this October. I'm sure you'll sort it in the end. All the best
Yes I am the winner! Now if I can just sustain my winning streak and find a job to earn some much needed money...
I'm always browsing the threads, when I have spare time, and read them all with interest. Unfortunately, as I don't start my PhD till October, I'm what is known as 'A Watcher' because I have no words of wisdom to share Still, I've gleaned much wisdom from the experiences of others
Thanks for you help everyone. I've managed to sort it all. I'm with Natwest and they're going to give me a student account on 3rd year undergraduate terms and then change it to a graduate account from the 17th July...and then back to a student account when I start my Phd/GTA scheme in October. Had to go to 3 different branches to sort it. I have a couple of job interviews in the pipeline (dreaded telesales!), so if I'm successful, at least I'll be earning over the Summer and manage to get back in the black. Thanks again
