Hi Davenikita2
FindAPhD have a number of articles on what it's like to do a PhD in their PhD Study section.
Hi Katy
I hope someone on here will be able to help you out. By the sounds of it you're looking to study part time. You can view a selection of part time LLM by Research masters courses on FindAMasters.
It would be unusual to find a PhD program that lasted only 2 years as most PhD programmes around the world take a minimum of three years full time. A shorter PhD programme would be seen as of a lesser value and as such may not be a good choice. You can search for PhD programmes in Malaysia on FindAPhD.
Hi Rajan.
Integrated PhD programmes are becoming more popular in Europe. These are referred to as 4 Year PhD Programmes in the UK. You can view current 4 Year PhD Programmes and search out similar International PhD Programmes on FindAPhD.
We're after tales of peoples PhD viva experiences. In particular we'd like to know about any that were so long you needed to stop for lunch.
And now there's our new site dedicated to MBAs and Business Masters degrees - FindAnMBA.com
Hi Rish1306
Normally we remove threads like yours, but as everybody is enjoying the discussions we've left it. I've had to remove the links you supplied - please don't enter them again.
Good luck with your financial career.
Maximise the impact of your research and develop your team’s transferable skills by engaging 11-19 year olds via the RCUK-funded Researchers in Residence scheme.
RCUK would like you to encourage your research group to participate. Aimed at PhD students and early stage post-docs across the UK this school placement scheme provides an opportunity to inspire the next generation of researchers (11-19 years students) about their work.
Researchers that have been involved benefit by developing their public engagement, communication and teaching skills that help show experience on their CVs whether they continue on the academic career path or enter the jobs market.
Participation in RinR has also helped some researchers when completing Pathways to Impact due to RinR helping them to think about the wider social and ethical implications of their research.
All participating researchers receive free, expert communication training is provided and each placement lasts between 14 to 24 hours.
Interested researchers should apply via www.researchersinresidence.ac.uk
Eska - We won't be asking you to publish your newly discovered cure for the common cold, just your thoughts and experiences of getting a PhD or Masters degree to help those budding geniuses that come after you.
I can't think for the life of me why we sent DanB our treasured Post-its, but as he's now been successfully reintegrated back into society I have no regrets. If anyone fancies a FindAPhD Mug, Mouse Mat, Coaster or Pen (or even the whole set) then send us your musings. If we put them on one of the sites we'll shower you with promotional gifts. Have a look at the FindAPhD Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/FindAPhD) over the next few days to see some picks of the high quality merchandise that could soon be yours!!
If you do, and have a minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience, then why not apply for the British Science Association Media Fellowships 2010

Thought the regulars here would be pleased to see that their efforts don't go un-noticed. This is a quote from an article on the Vitae web site:
"The PhD process can be an isolating and anxiety-inducing experience, fraught with problems. Yet the cyber community of PhD students at ‘The Postgraduate Forum' (www.postgraduateforum.com), offers support, connection and the sense that ‘we're in this together'. They also provide some of the best advice I've seen about the research and non-research related problems surrounding the PhD. They are humane, humorous and pull no punches about the challenges of which the books (inevitably) could not have dreamed.

Are you a current or recent postgrad researcher who has spent some time employed by a university during your research? Could be employment in any role, academic or non-academic, temporary, part-time etc, but must have been sometime between September 2008 and now.
The NUS (National Union of Students), in conjunction with UCU (University and College Union) are interested in your experiences as part of a national survey launched today. The on-line survey should take around 20 minutes, and you’ll be entered into a prize draw for £50 of Amazon vouchers (if you give your e-mail address, which is optional).
The NUS seem to be getting a bit more active on behalf of postgraduates, so if you want to have your say use the link below:

The thread is back. We were trying to halt a potential flame war of insults, but having looked through the thread I think we acted too rashly. Please be nice to each other.
Andy
Yes we have restored the thread. If the *ding ding* carries on though we might take it off again as the personal insults just end up creating a flame war, which was what Sascha was trying to avoid by taking the thread down. Please stick to the arguments and leave those reading the thread to make their minds up about the personality or parentage of the other contributors.
