I've a couple of questions. Hopefully, you all can help me out.
Does the use of students from an instructor warrant this instructor to be an author?
Does the use of data from a company warrant the employee who enables you to collect data from the company an author?
What criteria should one use so as to be considered as an author of a paper?
That's normal... we only have very few hours left after working on our research, teaching, etc. I only manage to catch up with my friends during holidays...
Also, I think it's good to have a separate circle of frens outside the ones that you meet everyday- something that you already have!- Good for you!
I like Joyce's attitude. I think that when you are pursuing your phd, you have to keep a positive attitude. Only then you can last through.
Also, I believe that whatever comments that the panel, you either take them with a pinch of salt or try to work hard to improve on your work...as someone else has commented in the above discussion. Moreover, your supervisor seems nice.:)
I'll be going to a conference soon and I understand that getting to know some of the people in the conference is one important reason for attending a conference. However, how does one get to know people at the conference? What are some of your experiences?
I think it depends on the teaching workload or other commitments that you have. I've a friend from another university who's able to maintain a relationship with her partner..and am able to hang out with her partner at least one day per week...
I figured one of the main reasons that she's able to do so is her low teaching workload. Or maybe she's just smarter? 8P!
For me, I find it hard to keep in contact with all my friends... And life just seems to get busier as one progresses from year 1...
