Don't give up Otto! It is really hard to get your first paper out there even if you have data (I am trying now for three month to write the first word). But even if they reject it you normally do get a feedback AND it will be a good practise as you will get familiar with the writing, reviewing etc just go for it and you never know you might be one of the 20%!
This is really weired. I have my German car with a German number palte and German insurance in the UK, I checked with the police, the DVLA, and the embassy and everybody said: Don't worry as long as it is road legal in the country of registration you can do whatever you like. The only thing is that you have to have an address in the country it is registered so they can send you your tickets. That's it and a sticker (beam bender) is complely legal and you can even get an MOT with only the sticker. And to be honest, nobody is ever going to check you anyway if you are not getting a ticket every week how will tehy know you have the car here. Furtehrmore there is no need to register yourself nor the car anywhere as the UK has no law which forces you to register.
To Rick:
The replacemnt of your driving liscence should work over the embassy.
true, hsbc will accept my id but they won't give me an account because i don't have a credit history in the uk...
the one who does not accept my id was natwest but after a really joyful afternoon i now know that lyods does not accept id cards, moer or less all the others do but you need to have a either a an english driving liscence or counsil tax bill - which of course i don't have; i will be stuck with my building society account forever (no card only money over the counter)- does anyone know why the account from the building society isn't considered as a proper account as my university won't pay the grant in there, i don't build up a credit record, i don't get a card....
If it possible for you to keep your registration in your home (EU) country it is easier to just leave it. There is no legal need to register your car in the UK and it saves you bringing it through the MOT. It doesn't need many technical adjustments (sticker from km to miles on the speed thingy) but the insurance is quite expensive (especially if you want to take it back onto the mainland for a eg holiday). The only thing you have to do is, to put a beam bender sticker on your right front light in order not to irritate anyone; however, i am driving my car here for 2 years and i never got around to do it and nobody ever checks.
Hi Asia, I think if you are concerned about and limited by the wheather you really should find another place than Britain. The wheather changes really quickly and it is completly normal that you wake up to sunshine(like today) and now it is pooring down with rain and i make a bet it will be nice and freezing cold tonight. i would look for a place with more continental climate as it is normally more stable.
good luck
seems to be the general problem ... i tried to open a bank acount:
can i see your passport
here you are
this is an ID card
yes
we cannot take ID cards
but i came into the UK with this, i don't have anything else
you need a passprt to open an account
but i don't have one
then you can bring me an old passport and your ID and a bank statement
but i don't have a bank account
then you cannot open a bank account
but then i cannot be paid
we cannot accept ID cards
but it is an official document
yes
so
just bring me an old one..... (this went on for about 30min)
so i cannot get an account
well, if you come back in september you can
??????????????
during the freshers weeks we accept ID cards as so many people only have ID *smile*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGG
and where do i get a bank account from now??? anybody???
to be honest: a relationship is slightly different to your job - and add a lot of sarcasm to slightly. For a job it si fair enough to settle for the best but finding a partner is hardly like a job
1. you are not finished with the contract after xy years
2. you cannot quit
3. there should be a bit more emotion in it
I hope you find the right partner for you but perhaps you should just start to be open instead of painting a picture and if it doesn't match - tough
...why Mondays are always so extremly horrible. I mean not enough that our dog was playing up all night having a houling conversation with the neighbouring dog, I didn't hear the alarm clock so the dog wasn't out of the door in time, therefore i was late and got some comments about work attitude, went home at lunchtime and our dog left a serious problem in the hall amd now I have the smell still in my nose even i am sure there is nothing - my roommates are still here, windows closed therefore i should be save???
I know what you mean - it is desperate. I think I go home and do soemthing useful instead of playing on: www.eyemaze.com
