A reference in a bibliography should be such that anyone could find the exact document you looked at, if they so wish. In your situation, I probably would specify it was the first edition.
Presumably there's a langauages and/or linguistics department at your university? Try asking them if you get completely stuck.
I don't know how it is now, but certainly a few years ago the entry requirements for a Chartered Accountant training place included having a degree. The class and subject didn't matter at all and I know of someone who became a Chartered Accountant with just an Ordinary Degree (lower than a Third) in Electronics. That may be one way to go.
I found this by searching for telecommunications in the PhD section of findaphd.com:

Could you join the Society for $20 a year and thereby get access?

I've got the Daly, Parry-Jones, Miller 2008 and Hinton papers, if you would like to give me your e-mail address.
Can anyone help me with this?
If it's just for writing your dissertation, LaTeX is even cheaper (it's free).
Do you have to choose between them? How about doing an MBA part-time, say, after you've finished your PhD?
There's also the University of Sheffield's MSc in Statistics with Medical Applications. There's the option to do it over two or three years by distance learning, with just the exam weeks in Sheffield. I admit to bias as I'm currently doing their MSc in Statistics with Financial Maths.
This website unistats.direct.gov is only good for first degrees (BA, BSc, etc).
