I love Sheffield, it's a friendly city, not too big or to small!
There is new student accommodation blocks being built every year, i agree with the location choices stated, there are also some nice flats in the centre of town at 'West One'
theres plenty of 'standard' work bar/restaurant, shop assistant and there are lots of Temp agencies here too.
Uni accommodation is good for meeting new people and is a bit less forced then a shared house straight away, either way you're probably sharing kitchen and bathroom so you're going to meet them. Uni accommodation is cheaper and usually all inclusive of bills etc.
Good luck
:-):-)

Hi all,
The long:
most of you use the forum with consideration to others and make comments and create threads which help not only yourselves but others too.
However a small, yet ever growing percentage of you have started posting on here, getting your answers/advice then deleting all your content, it's one thing to delete content in a thread you started but a few of you also delete all the contributions you have ever made!
This is not considerate in the slightest to other users who may find themselves in the same situation and also invalidates other threads and thread content!!
The Short:
Please be mindful of other users, don't delete threads and content.
The Consequence:
We here at PGFT have been very lenient of people who have done this in the past those who do it now with out good reason (e.g. duplicate posting) could find themselves Banned from posting at all.
PhD Stipend is not taxable so you don't pay tax or NI on it

hope that helps.
Hi
My Husband is a full time PhD Student. we got married in his first year, he is now coming to the end of his first year.
I think as long as your partner understand your commitment and you both find time for each other it can work!
My Husband treats his PhD as a 9-5 job so we get evenings together. Its important to remember that a PhD isn't forever!!
