Sorry to hear that sneaks. In the past I had my share of comp problems (too many trips to PCworld tech guys), so at the beginning of write-up, I just went and bought a new one. I had my old laptop since the begining of my uni life and after two theses and 7 years later it just had to go.
Would your uni let you have one for the write-up period, mine does & for PhD students they dont usually ask them back until abt 6 months. I think you will be better off sorting this right now before things can get much worse.
Good luck!
Yesterday was bad, had a headache and since I was awake till abt 2-3am in the morining everyday, had to get some sleep but wrote about 200 words and deleted most of what I wrote the day before. That happens I guess, two steps forward and one backwards.
So far today I could only manage to do a bit of reading and wrote few notes for writing later tonight. Had to sort out admin stuff related to PhD work, so emails, calls, waste of time just to get small things done.
Sumah, just keep on going, I sometimes find that if you just write things even not very formed sentences, then that gives an urge to write more. In the end of this it produces lot of pages, not all useful but could get some good parts out of that. keep updates in here or in a diary. At the end of a writing session, note down what you have to do for the next day, that will kick start your next day work. (up) (I'm good at advicing but maybe not at implementing them)
endnote is giving me a headache, wasting my precious writing time again:-s:
I inserted a citation with 3 authors and it appears on the page with initials of the first author (A.B.John, James & Blogs, 2000).
Can anyone tell me Why? ???& how to make it normal? There is only one John in my reference list.

Thanks everyone for those encouraging words! :-) I can see the end but its the journey that seem harder these days.
Many things are true to my work, I like switching into things & when I dont think too much I write more & finish chapters. For the past 2 days I've been stuck on a stat problem, :-S which now I've decided to put on the back burner. It has to wait as I'm getting no where with it. Maybe I need to sort this with someone else.
Today going back to some editing before starting ch-3 writing.
cakeman & siwee how r u both doing, remember that you were on dec 09 deadline as well. (up)
Phdbug, so sorry to hear abt the RSI, hope it will get better soon. (I never get more than 1-2 hrs at one time to write, which is a problem for me
thanks for the support, not a bad day but not on word count (just one para of 30 words:-(. I had to sort out some results mistakes I have written and that took almost all day. better luck tomorrow I guess. anyway I did sort that problem, which is a good thing.

The big dream - Finish writing by Dec 09 8-)
The achieved reality - Only 2 chapters done
- 400 words today after 3 weeks of no writing :-(
Tomorrow's dream - At least 800 words
Had to get this out of my system, don't feel respectable enough to join the accountability thread. Will keep myself updated, otherwise my dream will not be a reality by Dec
looks like you are facing one of the typical PhD problems, as no one is immune ...no matter how hard you work.:$ The only option I can see here is that if you have done the practical part then ask to be moved into write-up which is a year and is lesser fees.
In the meantime, you can ask for regular meetings whether its once a week, month etc...as they have accepted progress is slow from their part. You can be very active in these meetings and set deadlines for them and yourself so everyone is one the same page. Try to do this the nice way first rather than being frustrated and angry at them. Get the best out of them as it will only help you.
Lastly, it would help for you to find another way to vent some frustration and anger (maybe for few hours a day or week boxing....running..music) as this will only get in the way of clear thinking and very careful planning which you need at this moment.(up)
