I understand your point.
but what I am saying is having came across such a post do you either
1. Ignore the post and go on to more reasonable quetsions
or
2. answer back 'you need to go and do a google search actually better still forget about doing one because if dont know how to look for one you have failed before you even started
Remember, the amount of information available in some foreign countries is not much at all. infact these pple maybe on paying intenet cafes and have very little time. I am not making excuses for anyone. but I am saying if I were you I would take option 1.
it your call. even the dullest amoungsts us have feelings too
I actually meant to say doing a Phd does not make you more human than others. It might make you better off but REMEMBER be nice to pple on your way up because you may meet them on your way down.
life has taught me this lession: life is like a wheel, one time you are up, the next you are down.
Forgive me for my seemingly, overrated philosophical rubbish, but I am rather disappointed with the lack of modesty by the so called educated amoungst us.
I beg your pardon sir, for the poorly written post had not idea it had to be thesis standard on a post grad forum
i totally disagree with the whole phd calibre text.
Like I said, it is better not to post to a thread than to post to tell someone to do a google search, amd might i add in the most disrespectful manner possible.
doing a phd doesnot make oneone better off that the next person. we should all remember that they was a time that you were not what you are now.
all i am asking is that we treat our fellow international students with a little bit of patience,
and by the way if i got accepted by cambridge, i will not let anyone tell me that ia ma not pdh calibre
i just googled your topic and lots of results, email this guy for some general guidance

Hie Guys,
I have been reading some of the posts and it seems that there is some really cold sholuder stuff going on esp to students from overseas.
I agree that some of the questions are a bit, well how can i put it , awkward esp when you think that some of these things are staright forward because you have lived and learnt here all your life.
please lets help without putting each other down. better not to post than to hurt someones feelings. these pple dont have the same priviledges we have. explain what you know in a human manner
PLEASE DONT ATTACK ME FOR THIS POST
well i really feel for you, what a response.
it true that the funding for intrenational students is rare but my suggestion is look and apply, you will get one eventually. best place fro you i think would be www.findaphd.com. when you go to this site you will search for your area of intrest and then look at only the results with a picture of the world in form of them. these arte the ones you will be eligible for
marristat,
where are you from. well I understand what you are saying, but perharps it was the lack of information in your original post athat ticked adem off. I must admit , I kind of thought the same too justa when I read it, but now that you have given a bit more info it is a lot clearer.
to get to the point, many Phd posts would want uk or eu pple to cut on the fees costs. but having said that thre a a few ones that take pple from anyhwere, I think the best site for you is the findaphd.com. here you should look at progarams with the world sign in front of them and thse would be the one u r eligible for. but i bet u knew that already
guys, i think what africa is saying is that he want to a a studentship for instance to give to someone who is wanting to do a phd. he says he has got lots to data that he needs evaluating , so i think he needs to get in touch with a doog lecturer who can assign a student to do a phd funded by african,
what do you think, am i right of not
When I was doing my undergraduate degree in pharmacology at a non red brich uni, I learnt with some medical students who were intercalating AND were from a fairly red brick uni.
at first I thought they were snobish about being medics and then being from the red brick uni, but later realised it was just me feeling a bit inferior.
so while I agreee that they is snobbery around, like what someone said they is snobbery about anything and you should not really sit down to fell sorry for yourself that you are going to a non red brick.
stand tall and be counted
Zimbabwe was a nice place. I left in 2002 but since then things have got from bad to worse.
the britsh pound is 1:200 million zim dollars.
I love my country and pray that it will be okay one day.
I hope that when when I finish my PHD in 2011, I will be able to go back and stay there beacuse it is a lovely country.
When I left there were more car parking spaces that there were cars. so parking problems were non existant.
The university of zimbabwe was an all comprehensive compound. you could literally live in it without any contatct with the outside world beause it had everything including banks, and again no restrictions on bring your car
I think you can still go to the pre meeting at that other uni and if in a month the cambridge comes thru, then tell them you cant came.
I was in the same dilemma, but what can you do, you dont know if cambrodge are going to accept you and therefore it was the right move to accept the other uni.
I always feeel that when you receive an offer it looks good on you if you accept it as soon as possible.
I had the one offer from cambridge and accepted it first day I got it. I still had other interviews waiting but decided that this was the best i needed
its tough I know but I think you made the right move
I agree, I think it depends on the situation. In my case they reaaly needed to fill the position as soon as possible, which worked out to my advantage as not many pple had applied in the first place and so was up gainst two others I think.
It all depends on the requirments of the provoders of the studentship. I know funders like the BBRSC AND MRC have deadlines of their own by which they expect the supervisors to have filled the position
so good luck. hope you get it
