Hi,

Thanks for your answer, but did they contacted you back again to say that you weren't successful or did you never got an answer back?

I have phoned them a month ago to ask them and the supervisor did confirm to me that she was impressed by my presentation during my interview so I thought all went ok but until now I haven't got any updates.. :(

I have already "reminded" them and they just give me an answer of that I won't need to reapply, they just want that I reconfirm my interest thats all but I am not sure if that is positive or negative...

Additionally, the new start date fits my current profile, at that time I normally will be graduated ;-)

Hi Guys,

Recently I have had an interview, for a PhD project.

A few days later I have received a message stating that I was not selected at this time because they want to change the start date. This because I wasn't able to start at the primary date (I am currently finishing my masters). The supervisor did ask if I still was interested in that project and if I do, they were willing to keep my details on desk. Today I found the "new"-"old" project online again with another starting date. But there was no deadline stated...

So what do you guys think? Is this a positive situation? Or rather negative?

Cheers!

Alex

Can someone explain me the funding system?
A

Hi guys,

The more I look at the PHD vacancies, the more I get confused about the funding systems... It is totally different from those in my home country Belgium.

Can someone maybe explan me this for example this:

A PhD studentship is available in the Bioengineering research group, School of Engineering Sciences (SES), and Bone and Joint research group, School of Medicine (SoM), which fully covers University tuition fees (at EU/UK level**) and provides a tax-free bursary of £13,600 per year, rising annually (each October) in line with the UK Government (EPSRC) recommended rate, for a 3-year duration. **EU/UK fees £3500 p.a., Overseas fee 15,500 p.a. (figures to be confirmed, and subject to annual increase).
There is NO additional funding available for overseas fees. We regret it will not be possible to consider your application unless you can provide funding from other sources to pay the fees difference (£12,000 for 2010/11).

I am very confused about what tuition fees are etc.

Thanks in advantage,

And since I am from Europe, do I belong to the EU group rather than overseas?

Regards,

Alex

Hi,

Are there any of you who are conducting stem cell research? And do some of you maybe have some links or sites of universities where they are doing stem cell research?

Cause I am looking for some places to apply to. :D

And how does the procedure go like interview, cv etc?

Thanks KB! I just checked it up my result was 61.3 percent... Do you think I now have a chance? I would like to do a PhD in medicine (stem cell research).
