I think I would just bring the laptop and the charger along. I've got my bound copy of thesis anyway.
Thanks Barramack and Tree !
Hi guys, I'll be having my viva next week. At the moment my laptop battery is also showing signs of being at the end of its road. I can only use it if it's connected to the mains. I need to get a new battery for it but I don't think it's available where I am at the moment. Even if I can get one, it would probably be a second-hand battery.
I won't be needing the laptop for my viva (I'm in humanities) but I will take it along just in case. Would you be willing to take this risk if you were in my shoes ? To be honest I can't afford to buy a new one; I will have to wait until end of viva and thesis corrections to get a new one !
I submitted online as I was not in the UK at that time (my visa was close to expiring). I sent the PDF copy to the Printing and Services people with detailed instructions of how many copies required, how many pages, etc.
Then I had to pay for the printing costs via online to the Printing people. Once that was done, they set out to print and bind my thesis, then someone sent my thesis to the Exams office. The whole process took some 2-3 days and many e-mails. Looking back it was such a rush trying to complete everything on time (due to the distance as well) but I had to do it quickly due to visa matters etc.

Hi Sunnychicka
Don't give up yet. There's still time for you to finish your thesis and submit it. I faced the same problem as you because I had to come back home and work for my sponsor; however I knew that my thesis was far from perfect. After one month in my home country, I decided to submit my work online to my uni in the UK. And from my sup's comments, I knew he was not that ecstatically happy with my finished work.
I will be having my viva in September. I'm just keeping my hopes up and praying that everything goes well for me. I can't afford to think negative thoughts because almost everything has gone haywire ever since I came back home !
Hi human
Same situation here. Finished my dissertation 3 months ago and returned to my home country. I am currently doing some proof reading and translation while waiting for a full-time job.
I agree with Incognito's point of view. You just have to submit what you have, even though your work may not be to your supervisor's standard.
Perhaps you could use the remaining one month or so to tie up the loose ends, and then submit what you have at the moment ? The worst that you might face is you would have to revise and resubmit. Think about it.
Congrats Loobie Loo, please share your experience with us !
Hi everyone
Well there's my final chapter finished, a piece of work of about 16K words. I am so tired. I have a cold and need to rest.
My next plan is to make corrections to the other 3 chapters. I think I need the whole of February to do that.
