Hi - good work guys!
I have until end of play tomorrow to wrap up one of my chapters...going on holiday on friday so need it done so i can not worry about it next week. Got 3 sections to write today then tomorrow have an awful day of more stats and 5 sections to write...its going to be a long day !!!
Nice one on the abstract acceptance..got one to write myself over the next couple of weeks - could be my last conference before I finish!
7 months !!
Hi all, had brief break from the forum over the last week. Trying to be productive but I have a friend coming over for coffee this afternoon, got a house to tidy and probs have about an hour to crack on with some stats! Hope everyone else is having a more productive Friday than me....promise I will make up for it next week!!
will go to the docs if it still hurts tomorrow. well it doesnt exactly hurt just feels like weird cramp. Lindalou- do you have a job for when u finish? I know its an extra thing to stress about but I am probably more worried about employment post-phd than I am about my viva.
morning all. Eeek went to boxing training last night and I now seem to have lost the the use of my 4th AND 5th finger on my right hand....so much for wwrtiting! I have too myself to my favourite coffee shop to write this morning...hoping a change of scenario will make me more productive. Planning on trying to get a chapter tidied up today... sup meeting next week and I seem to have lots of odds and ends unfinished which is quite annoying- but got to the point where I dont want to continue with them as I need advice before I carry on. I started writing up a chapter a realised I have way too much data to call it one chapter....potentiallly coulld split it into 3 chapters......but all the variables are inter linked so maes it hard to know where the cut off point for a different chapter should be....grrrr productive day all!!!
had a terrible day yesterday didnt get anything on paper at all...need to make up for it today and still haven't started! Aiming for 600-700 words by the end of the day.
Lol - batfink- funny because my shoes also have huge holes in them so just went out this morning to purchase some more.
Come on guys- i want to hear that you made progress by the end of the day....will keep you updated on my word count. here goes......
oh right I see - I am phyiscal science student so each sentence contains a number/reference in it so take ages to write. I have completed job 1 of 3 for today. Still got my 300 words to write this afternoon.....jeez can't believe this is my life for the next 8 months!!
Wow you guys...how do oyu manage to write 1,000 + words a day....!! at that rate you must be planning to finish in the next couple of months? 3 out of 4 goals completed today, been in lab, tidying up a bit of analysis...now to bash out my 300 words....here goes.:-)
it is defintiely overwhelming - not so much the actual writing of words but trying to get the quality that I know I will need o pass a phd. 500 words a days doesnt sound so bad- and that would be awesome if it could be finished in 6 months. how much time realistically do u need to make revisions and polish off the work?
I too am supposed to finish by end of September 12! I have written a very rough lit review, rough methods, rough first data chapter and partly written 2nd data chapter....I guess thats reasonable progress. Do people think i can get it finished in time for September?
HI - I am currently in my third year of phd - with 8 months of funding left. Finding it so hard to motivate myself to write. Should i feel guilty if I dont get something on paper each day....wake up in the mornings and find it so hard to be energised and productive....cant wait to finish but dont feel like that day will ever come! :-s
