Actually Lindalou your post is really helpful. am glad to hear am not the only one whose brain stops during this time.
am the same - towards anaemic. was on the pill before, it helped reduce the pain and flow so now my menses only take about 3 days - before was 8 days!- but they are 3 horrible days. it takes quite a while for my brain to function properly again as i can't actually follow anything. i feel bad because of deadlines and these problems. doing something i enjoy plus the guilt that comes with that venture right now is not feasible.
am thinking of proofreading a chapter [which is going terribly - i can't remember what i said in the previous page. lol.] and doing footnotes, bibliography, formatting and things like that.
in the meantime am just trying to drink as much water as i can and eat well.
i will try to watch a movie...
men have it so easy..
i might as well join this thread as am really STRUGGLING.
today i'd like to: 1) read through current draft of chapter and cut out irrelevant sections. (one hour) then have my lunch.
after that i'll come back and write what i'll do next.
the struggle is that bad. i'll be glad if i can do just that!
hi girls,
how do you deal with writing up and your menses?
on a scale of 1-5, 5 being as bad as it can be, i'd put mine on 4. they are really controlling always sabotage my work. how do you cope with it all? do you manage to get any work done?forgive me if this question is a bit high school. i just don't know how to cope anymore. i've tried paracetamols and drinking lots of water - been to the docs, don't want any hormonal treatments. already had them with negative effects. how do you deal with work when its that time of the month.
thanks mog. i actually got a 3 week extension as i've not been very well.
i have really struggled the last 2 weeks and am still stuck in a section but am determined to get it done and dusted by monday tops.
27th is the new deadline. then still have to write a discussion chapter in 10 days. :O
but am a believer in ALL things are possible.
i had a really terrible day yesterday. i was trying to work through feeling poorly when i just felt really confused, like nothing was working and started moving things around my chapter. i decided to step away from it before i did more damage. i went to sleep. cried myself to sleep but in the middle of it all came up with a solution to the problem. am hoping new strategy works in getting me out of the woods by monday.
so glad to hear that am not the only one working! yes! 1.30pm to 1.30am. sounds scary but.. one hour in, its not that bad. lol. maybe too early to say. lol.
"I'm updating my literature review chapters and working on reducing some large contextual/background sections in my literature review chapters. Just made myself a cup of very strong coffee to see me through today."
exactly what i will be doing for the next 10 days. except that the doctor doesn't allow me coffee. so am driving on sheer will power. but hey when you got no option, you will get the work done!
thanks for letting me know your schedule - so much time off. lucky you!!!!
its amazing how one can say so much in their contextual chapter. mine is 30,000 words. got to cut it down to 15000!
so much for this gift of the gab! not always very helpful
but thats after i finish these two 5000 word pieces.
wishing you a lot of productivity in your work today! :)
sigh.. back to it.
all the best in your revisions. you're one strong person! you inspire me.
Hi everyone,
i'll be working through Christmas as I still two 5000 word sections to go and a lot of analysis to get done.
it'd be nice to know am not the only one working in the world.
let me know if you are gonna be working during Christmas. are you working from home or a library?
hailey.
work has been going great. the quality has been good. sometimes i wish i could write faster but am being patient with myself.
i just finished the main part of ch.4, now its the homestretch (analysis) from tomorrow. i hope i can be done in five days and then start on the conclusion chapter which will double as a discussion as well.
i don't have the greatest timing but.... (what do you do?) i've applied for a 3 week extension to take the pressure off- fingers crossed - as the pressure is getting too much and i can't think sometimes.
meanwhile, am proceeding like i have it - if only for my sanity. been averaging 10 tomatoes a day which in my assessment is not bad. working between 1pm and 10pm. am thinking of starting at 11am and pushing til 10pm. i will try this out tomorrow and see how it goes.
17 days to go..

thanks naturalme. that's the best thing i've read in a LONG time! am just burning the midnight oil now. am pleased with what i have achieved. i typically work from noon to around 1am. can rarely do the 5am thing. after reading your post i don't feel bad any more. thanks. :)
i guess for us its about perfecting the burning the midnight oil plan. my boyfriend works too hard. he gets up at 5am and works til around 11pm. sometimes between 11pm and 1am. i couldn't do that ever! bless him. i've been telling him just how important sleep is and making sure he gets at least 6 hours of sleep. lol.
anyway some good news: thursday = 6 tomatoes; friday = 10 tomatoes; saturday = 11 tomatoes. better late than never. lol.
all the best everyone. sorry i didn't come online again that day. i felt so guilty over my 6/a possible 11 tomatoes. lol.
