If I was a supervisor I would rather my student work wherever they can get most of their work done. Try and ignore this PhD student, it's none of her business anyway.
Is your supervisor happy with your work?
can you work better at home than in the office?
If you answered yes to these questions, then work at home. And why would you want to socialise with someone so rude? :-)
Ive submitted my thesis and waiting for my viva. Am I eligible for Job Seekers Allowance? I'm registered as a full time student but not actually doing any full time studying, im waiting on my viva. I have no money at all coming in :-(
Anyone else going through this? My PhD is still stressing me out even though it's finished :-(
Not to sound like a pessimist, but I would like to know. I have submitted my thesis, and I personally think it's rubbish. I would just like to know do people who write bad theses ever pass? If not why do we get put through the pain of a viva defense?
I haven't been given a viva date yet and it could be me just panicking. :-(
It will look good on their CV. Plus there is a chance to publish more papers which equals funding which equals promotion. Also they might be just interested in the subject and like to encourage others to study. If my supervisor asked me that question I wouldn't know what to say.:$
Definitley! It has made me feel like mine is completely rubbish. In quality, length, layout, everything, other theses seem better than mine. It also makes me feel guilty sometimes, I think that they have worked alot harder than me and therefore a studenship has been wasted on me instead of being given to someone more worthy. :$
Then I think that as no two theses will ever be the same, then of course mine will be different in length and how can I compare the quality when, although they are of similar topics to mine, they are different(otherwise I wouldn't have been researching this in the first place)?
Unfortunatley my first point occupies my thoughts more often than the second :-(. But I suppose it gives us the determination to work harder (up)
Good Luck!!

I attended a workshop, which was a mini conference really, I didnt submit or give any presentations but I think it helped me prepare for when I did present at a conference. You get to meet other people in your field :-) So yes, you can (up)

I submitted my thesis, but have since found some typos. My hand written results are perfect, but i've made a few typo errors in the typed version that will make the examiner think that either my results are wrong, or that i am very careless.
Anyone have any advice on what do do?
:$
I have been working on a problem while writing up, however this problem is not complete and I don't have time to finish it before I submit. Has anyone ever put incomplete work into their thesis and said this is interesting for futrue research or something like that?
