Be positive, apply to as many as you can and wait and see. Going for a Masters is already a good sign because it shows your motivated and keen to study further! Make that your focus.

What is Business Psychology like?

Does anyone know how worthwhile a Business Psychology course is?I am very interested in it and just wanted to know if anyone else knows anything more about it. It leans more towards business than psychology (occupational psych) but if anyone else knows more, please let me know!! Thanks

Advise to be in the starting set of a new MSc Program

You can see it in a positive light. Universities have to progress and eventually new courses will develop. Courses will modernise because there will be more research and more knowledge and thus, new courses will appear at universities. It's actually a good sign - we're moving forward. I'm going to attend a fairly new post graduate course this year (10 years) which goes against all the traditional courses in psychology but I find it very interesting and personally more valuable. It is a more innovative programme and I think this is great. I have received comments from people saying the more traditional ones are better/safer but these new courses have many advantages too. It also very much depends on how motivated you are as well - if you don't depend entirely on being taught but conducting your own research and do your own reading, it will help. It's up to you how you approach the course. This is just a different view on it all. Hope it helps!

Masters or not

Investment banking - I would tell you to go for it. Do a Masters to set yourself apart from everyone else. It doesn't matter what age you are and it'll only be a year or max 2 years part-time! It will go by quickly and you could perhaps do a Masters part time whilst working. If you do a full time Masters (1 year) then you can come back with a better qualification, more knowledge and skills and especially now what is happening in the markets I would advise you to do a Masters - use this time to get ahead. Hopefully you'll come back at a better time when banks will be recruiting more and you'll have a better chance of getting a job (esp. with more knowledge!). Hope it goes well. S

Masters in Business and Marketing
S

Hi I graduated from Dundee last year - psychology. And now going to do a postgraduate in Business Psychology and may go more into the business field after it. The course will be a bit different from marketing/business as it combines both business and psychology but I can always let you know later on this year, the type of modules that are more business orientated? It sounds though that you know what you want and what direction to take it in. Any course in business will be very worthwhile - very good career prospects if you make the right choices. S
