Congratulations! I don't have any other advice to offer as I completely agree with Sixkitten and Kronkodile. Try CAB. Good luck, I hope you get it sorted.
Snappyjaws, JA and Lulu, you can do it. I doubted myself loads along the way (sometimes still do!) I am wondering if this is just part of doing the PhD. Just take small steps at a time and then things seem more achieveable and less daunting (worked for me anyway).
Good luck!
Hello Suz, good to see you here. I thought I would be easy to spot!
Hope you find it useful, I have to say I have learnt so much from this forum, it is a fab place to be.
Me too. Am winning.
Great news bazzab! Do keep us posted.
Sorry Shani, I can't let you win for long! Have a great PhD free weekend though.
Are you feeling better now Piglet?
Congratulations on getting the job Ryan. I hope you are happy and I am glad it was not too traumatic telling your supervisor.
Good luck!
Poor Piglet, that is miserable. Hope you feel soon.
A gentle yet encouraging kick up the backside from me.
1143 - an equally interesting year!
Portugal emerged as a country after a 15 year rebellion by Dom Afonso Henriques (Afonso I).
Cardinal Guido elected Pope Coelestinus II
The eldest son of Fulk of Jerusalem becomes Baldwin III, king of Jerusalem (under the regency of his mother, which lasted until 1152). Baldwin III is the first king of Jerusalem actually born in Palestine.
Death of John II Comnenus, Byzantine emperor. John was evidently poisoned by accident by one of his own arrows during a hunt.
(Oops!)
I agree with Otto. Is this just one study (e.g. chapter), or the whole basis of your PhD? If it is just one study then I would say 8 participants are fine. It really depends on what analytical methodology you are using though. Things like Grounded Theory and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis would be fine with 8 participants.
You tell me insomniac!
I agree with Kronkondile completely. A mis-match in methodological approach or theoretical stance would be the biggest no-no for me. I did not cite my external much (only 2 or 3 times) but I knew he was sort of sympathetic to my methods. Well, I had one qual chapter and that was an issue, the quant was fine!
I don't think it is that hard to get people to examine from what I have been told. I also agree that this decision should not entirely be yours, you do need some input from supervisors.
Good luck.
Great news Dazed.
