I'm trying to proof read a few chapters, but my knowledge of grammar isnt the best, sigh :$ I keep thinking of things I should include, why is it all coming to me so close to the end? Time is not on my side:-s
I was more of an Oasis fan but now I would prefer the music blur had back then. 8-)
How are you now Mlis? I found that concentrating on little parts of my work at a time helped me alot, because if I looked at the whole picture I would feel overwhelmed. Thats the only piece of advice I can give really, because everyone else has said it all. I hope you're feeling alot better since you posted this thread, everything will work out in the end :-)
Thanks everyone! I really thought this would be the easiest part of the thesis but I've wasted my whole day trying to write it. I cant really cite the paper after my results because the work in the paper would relate to the topic in general, not my specific work. I just wanted to talk about how the topic has been applied in other fields.
In terms of PhD work my day has not been the best. Spent the day trying to write an abstract, a whole day! I overslept today again and generally found it hard to concentrate. I'm just annoyed now, I can't afford to be losing time. I really hope tomorrow is better. How has everyone else's thursday been?:-s
Just writing my thesis abstract but would like to reference a paper in it. I've been told an abstract is basically a CV of your thesis. I'm trying to write how my topic can be used by other areas and would like to cite a paper showing this. The paper is not on my topic so I cant really put it in the literature review.
Any thoughts on this? I've never read an abstract that has cited a paper.
Maybe your supervisors are just trying to ease you into the subject rather than overwhelm you at such an early stage. What about reading a few papers and start on your literature review? You will most probably have to write a report at the end of your first year, alot of which will be a review on the literature you have read as well as the work you have done. It took me a while to settle into my PhD, so I understand your concerns!
Good Luck:-)
Thanks guys, I've had PhD highs and lows but the lows didnt bother me as much as this one does, maybe its because Im so close to the submission date. I keep seeing things that need alot of improving, more papers I can write about, I look at the papers and think the work in them look so complicated and difficult in comparison to mine. When do you submit Chrisrolinski? Good luck to you both :-)
