Hey guys,
my girlfriend didn't get a PhD job for this autumn. We actually wanted to move to London together.
Was thinking of finding her a job as a lab tech for the interim and try for the PhDs next term.
Where can you look for jobs and especially life science jobs in the UK?
Much appreciated!

Hey guys,
can anybody access this paper?
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0076687983981521
Help is greatly appreciated. Need a protocol from that paper...
Thanks :)
Hey guys,
I might get my name on a publication for my help durring my Master thesis.
I just checked pubmed for my name and of course it is taken, as it is a veeerrry common name...
If my name was John Charles Smith (it isn't ,) ) of course "Smith J" is taken and "Smith JC" is also taken. How does one deal with that?
Invent something or just go with the one that is less frequent?
Thanks guys ,)
Podge
Hey,
1: Well, you just will need to cope with it. Start writing your thesis early enough ;) (sounds so easy)
Do you have to write the proposal yourself?
2a: Does the PhD prerequisite a Master? In my case it didn't and I only had to bring them my Bachelor diploma.
2b: There's a lot of people in the exact same situation every year. Normally you can bring in the Master diploma once you have it. Just ask the administration guys of the PhD institution.
What do you mean by "I downloaded the plugin for MS Word"?
Normally you download "Mendeley Desktop" and then go to "Tools" -"Install Word plugin". If this "Install Word Plugin" does not exist, then you have an incompatible version (As choco said 64bit are not supported yet).
If you have installed the plugin through aforementioned means then you should find the Mendeley citation plugin under "Add-ins" in MS Word.
Interesting thread.
I'm working on my Master thesis at the moment and when talking to my supervisor (my supervising postdoc in the lab) about stuff and papers he kinda always mentions stuff like: "that's why it's published in FASEB." or "be carefull taking this paper to serious, journal x is not well reviewed."
And he once told me the key journals in our field. So maybe just ask in the lab and discuss this topic. They will tell you all the important journals.
I had my PhD interview through sykpe aswell.
The assistant organised everything for the interview board and then they called me on time. No problems.
Send them your telephone number though beforehand if anything goes wrong. Had some trouble with my microphone for a second and they wanted to call me then (and still be on the video). Got the Mic working though ;)
Have enough light, a good camera and a clean background for the interview. ;)
