I know this will sound silly, but I applied for a PhD and had an interview last week. I was told they will decide who to accept over the weekend, so I thought I might receive an email on whether I've been successful or not today but haven't. Now I'm worried I've been unsuccessful. :(
How long does it normally take to receive an decision on a PhD? I know it'll probably vary between unis, but has been other people's experience with this?
I just looked back at the thread and you did actually reply to my question on what organisations fund 2:2s, you said:
"Not sure which organisations you could contact for funding."
Also I did point out that: "Surrey doesn't offer funding for that degree."
My point isn’t about you having to help me, you never were obligated to, but you did not provide any bases for me to believe it was possible to get funding with a 2:2 in a science subject at the time while accusing me of doing no research (despite the list I gave in the first post). Also I did point out the course was in microbiology and I know for sure it's impossible for that subject. I checked out the EPSRC site and it funds physics and engineering students, subjects less people go into.
There is a postgrad soc at my uni, but I didn't join as it doesn't have events often and when it does it's not my sort of thing. It's not really possible to go to the events on my own also, I would always have to find someone else to go with. There's no just meeting up at the pub or seeing a film. It's stuff like dances...and more dances from what I remember.
Oh if it was in the UK, I don't think you'll get accepted onto a diploma because that's almost on masters level. If someone gets 40% in all units apart from the dissertation on my MSc they get a diploma. If they get at least 50% and do the dissertation they get a masters.
