Third class honours in biosciences

H I did ask you in the that thread what funding councils fund 2:2s *in biology* (I never mentioned anything about pure science. I did not graduate in that and it's not even something there are courses on) and you never told me. I made that thread to find out about funding options for *microbiology* and you never gave me any advice, instead you excused me of doing no research on the bases of nothing! I checked all available options after gaining a 2:2 and there is no funding unless it's private or via a loan.

Which funding council funded your MSc? You and Juno keep on insisting that the classification someone gets in their first degree makes no difference, which is very misleading!

Good luck Tammy btw.

Read a good (nonPhD related) book lately?

There's no tv reception here. It sucks because I have to depend on the net if I don't go out, which I can't much as I have exams in a few weeks time. I don't even have the time to read fictional books..just textbooks....

Do you think just a complaint is enough?

I advice you speak to someone at the student union.

Masters grades: what are they looking for?

Doing well will always look better than just passing, whether it's required or not.

Stuck about PhDs...
V

Yes it is the wrong forum, if you look at the titles of sections then you'll see that is the case!

Chris I'll take you seriously when you spell universities correctly.

master wihout honour degree

Johnh he can't do a diploma because it's on master degree level, the only difference being is that it's shorter than a masters. I know all mine up until the dissertation is a diploma, than if people do well enough they are allowed to stay on and get a full masters.

Well it must have been exceptional work experience for it to be enough to be accepted into an MSc, as that is very rare. It takes away the whole point of "postgraduate".

Well there you go Juno I was right, that was an exceptional circumstance which you didn't mention before.

Well if they went to a polytechnic it might be possible.

Leaving my PhD
V

The aim of the research can change but if it affects the funding...well there won't be PhD for long then possibly. Also having a supervisor not interested in the field is dreadful and completely out of order! They shouldn't have this kind of project available if no one in charge is enthusiastic.

An ideal postgrad bank account?
V

Include an non-interest loan which will be paid back upon earning a certain amount.

juno that's nonsense, in order to get onto a masters you need at least a 2:2 (if not a 2:1). And when appying for a PhD the undergrad classification is taken into consideration.

3rdclass systems engineering and intrested in masters how?
V

You might have a chance with a polytechnic.

Discourse analysis: How to present findings(?)
V

Yes exactly. The OP probably never had to write a discussion before (as is the case with Indian graduates).
