Hey,
I did my undergraduate degree in microbiology at Liv uni and I'm doing my PhD there. Everyone in the micro dept are really nice. My PhD is in a diff dept but at my my interview there was a panel of 3 or 4 ppl none of them were my supervisor. I got asked about my honours project, practical modules and other lab work in my year out.
Good luck!
I am a very nervous person too. I am in the 3rd year of my PhD now and I have found it difficult especially giving talks, going to new places and meeting ppl. However I think that the only way to reduce the nerves is to actually do stuff like that. I am giving a talk tomorrow at a conference and I am terrified about it, but it has got better, I no longer can't sleep for wks before the talk!
I'm supposed to be going to a conference in Leeds on Wednesday. I felt ill all last week and when I finally went to the doctors she said I have a chest, ear and throat infection. I feel awful and I don't know if I am going to be feeling any better by Wednesday.
Is it really bad to miss a conference? I'm not giving a talk or anything. Has anyone else been in this situation? I don't know what to do!
I have only 4 months left to finish my lab work and I still have loads to do. I am terrified that I'm not going to get it all done and I will fail at the last stage. Anyone else having the same troubles? How do you know when you have done enough? Everyone keeps asking me about writing up but I haven't even finished the work yet and it just makes me feel awful and rubbish.
