Hi Delta, there is a some good advise on here from everyone and I felt I needed to add on to the thread having just gone through this experience.
Your viva is the most important part of the process(obviously after actually writing the thesis) you have a chance to prove to a doubting examiner that you have made informed and calculated choices in your work....I dont know about disagreeing with the examiners decisions... but what I do know is that you can and should argue against the points they have against your thesis as in stand up for what you have done VERY CLEARLY :-) and dont worry you will do great....I Wish you all the very best...(up)
Thank you so much Dunni73, you have been one of my inspirations on here, I remember reading your viva experience and thinking I hope I am there one day! Its a great consolation for you to tell me you felt the numbness as well...I need to just regroup.
The changes they have requested are not monumental and I will follow your advise and break everything down to bite size chunks. Thank you.xx
Hi Delta,
Having recently(few days ago) gone through this experience, I would say that you shouldnt worry too much about the externals field , because believe me what it all boils down to is that you believe in your work and the correctness of what you have done .. the viva is your chance to challenge the misgivings they may have on your thesis by clearly articulating your thought process and ability to have written the thesis!
I wish you all the very best.
Hey alll I know I have been very quiet here, but I just wanted to let you know that I did pass the viva and now have to do corrections within 6 months. I dont know what to feel really! everyone keeps saying congratulations and all I feel is a sense of emptiness and I want to find it in me to do the requested changes and hand it in - I am not redoing the viva thankfully.
The whole viva experience is still quite raw in my head but I will be sharing it soon :-)
anyone had a similar experience?
Thanx to every single person who supported me back in early summer to just keep going, this forum is the reason I even managed to complete it in the first place.
Hi BilboBaggins,
I would just like to say- THANK YOU SO MUCH - for the encouragement and ideas that you have shared on this forum - I am certainly one of the people who benefitted from your advise especially at the start of my write up when I very almost gave up on the whole process.. I cant thank you enough- I wish you ALL THE VERY VERY BEST!! three cheers to you .(gift) Thank you for sharing the viva prep story as well and the website - not many would be willing to put themselves out there like that!!! Take care xxxx
Thank you all for your concerns and quick replies with some solutions,... I think we should definately start a MS2010 support group :p -
MS2010'ers anonymous ( dont know where I was going with that but you get the point :-)
Skig its lovely to see you are around hope its all going ok .. I havent been on here for a minute - I have had to get my head down for submission purposes :-) x hows it going on your end? and everyone else for that matter! I hope you are all manging with your schedules and deadlines(up)
Hi I could literally scream right now!!! have barely slept and now trying to sort out my formatting and word is playing up on me.. or maybe im just slow??????????
I have numbered the pages and then realised I numbered the coverpage so I would like to change that!! I have tried all the options I can think of especially the REMOVE PAGE NUMBERS OPTION and its doing something funny like greying out the numbers... so then I have doubled clicked the document and gone on to the header footer page so the numbers now are activated but still even the remove page numbers option there has not got rid of them :-s:-s:-s:-s
Please help me:-(
hey skig , I have been trying all afternoon .. really I have - really poor progress - .. but I am just having a chat with my sister and I will give it another shot for a few hours- atleast try and finish the little section I have started and then call it a day and build up to a progressive Monday!!
How are you getting on? :-)
Hi skig, looks like its just me and you on here today... all the best with the dreaded chapter, just do it in chunks... I find I can cope better with chunks than the whole lot at once!!!
I have tonnes of editing to complete today, but onwards and upwards with it :-)
will keep checking in to let you know im still around :-)
@ sneaks - if you feel tired I would suggest a 30 minute power nap - honestly, they work :-)
@ Skig - I am very much around ... loads to do!! glad to see you about :-)
my goals havent worked out yet ... forgot I had some annoying admin. mambo jambo to sort out :-(.. thats done now, then I had a 2 minute war with a bee that came through my open door :-s... I was shrieking like a child.
Nonetheless I won and now sanity has returned - Onwards and upwards...
