yes,yes and yes,i know exactly how you feel, its so scary!!Ive made a list of all the experiments i have left to do and started sorting figures for the bits i have done and this made me feel a bit better!Thing is when i panic i cant do anything so having a list to systematically go through somehow makes it a bit better, might help you?Other than that im sure we will be fine...........hopefully!
I think what H says is correct however i think lying and making things up is bad bad idea. A better way to beef up an abstract is to incude more intro to put data into context then as forementioned suggest data will be shown on poster-sentances such as preliminary data suggests are good!Hope that helps.

Exactly the same thing happened to me recently and i was so upset and thought my supervisor was totally ashamed of me. It turned out that certainly wasnt the case. What I did was enter an abstract for the next internal event and gave my presentation again and it went fine (almost well!). Its all learning experience you know and all those questions you couldnt answer you will never be stumped by again ever, the answers will be there forever, trust me I know!!
Thanks for all your support on my problem,i feel much better today. Its very difficult to not be incredibly offended about something like this-basically someone taking credit for your work!!anyway il just have to see what happens really, fingers crossed it will get sorted. Im wondering does anyone know if you go joint first authorship whose name goes first-is it alphabetical or just up to submitters??any help appreciated
its a difficult one because there is that whole issue of going above someones head and whether it will do more damage than good.At the mo Im waying up the pros and cons of talking to someone higher. I feel by being joint first this is compromising my work but is it easier to give in rather than get a bad reputation?Another question is if you go joint first whose name goes first is it alphabetical or writers choice??my surname beings with m and the other persons with j so would he by default go first?
yeah i would be willing for the guy to be second author and me as first and corresponding author-this is what i want.joint first authorship is used to indicate equal contribution both figure wand work wise.my supervisor is not willing to go for the me as first, other guy as second
realistically this is going to be the only paper i get from my phd and its totally unreasonable to be joint 1st author if you have contributed nothing. The mthod that i mentioned before that my pi thinks the other guy developed is published in nature for gods sake in the same cells as we work!!!im so upset about this,my only paper and someone elso is going to get half the credit for it just because of departmental politics!he can go as 2nd author, thats fine but joint first no way!!
