Thank you Sneaks and DanB
Hello All,
following is an email I received from the University I applied to
"Thank you for your email. I am sorry for the delay in advising you of the outcome of your interview.
The panel have confirmed that you have not been selected for the initial offers and that we may be in touch again if any of the offers are not accepted."
What chances do I have that someone will not accept the offer?
Worried and upset,
Sherlock
Hello Moumou,
What I think you should do is, start applying for other positions at different university. Life is cruel! And it doesn't wait! 2 years is a long time.
This is what I think, since you are open to others thought, I felt like replying to your thread.
I am pretty sure you must have found your way through your problem by now!
All the best!
Hello killahtron,
Yup, wait until Monday and may be then contact the supervisor or the relevant admissions department.
All the best!
Hello Tribble,
I will be in the same situation gone 8th of April. But yes, I think you should wait for some more time. Patience always bears sweetest of fruits!
I know exactly how you are feeling! My blood pressure has been on the higher side since 2 weeks before my interview.
All the best!
Hello All,
I have a PhD interview coming up pretty soon. I have done my home work of reading the relevant research papers, brushing up basic knowledge.
But with every passing day, the more I read or get to know, the feeling of not being prepared is creeping in!
I am not nervous, but this is project is really ideal and would suit me! The supervisor is a respected academician as well. Every thing is perfect, but. . . will I get it?
Any advice?
Thank you.
Dear Coop,
We all have our phase of frustration! It is an in built system to makes you realise you need a BREAK! Trust me, try to be blank! Just play dumb! Take a chill pill. This will relieve you off the pressure. At least you are safe, because if I feel the same as you, I want to commit suicide!
Dude, take a break for a week at least, have a kit-kat, and life will be all beautiful.
Waiting for a positive response after 3 weeks!
All the best!
Hello All,
I am in a situation and my reasoning has stopped! So please help!
The situation is,
I've an offer from a University which is in late 70s in the league tables. I was unsuccessfully the first time but then the person who was chosen for the post could not accept the offer! Hence I've been offered a place which has full funding and stipend. The course starts ASAP!
I have also got an offer from a University which is in top 20. But the course starts September 2010. The catch is I have look for funding on my own. The University does offers International student funding but it only covers the fees, and not the living expenses.
I have applied to other Universities as well. Can you please help me decide, shall I go for the place offered or hunt for the funding and chose the better funding.
I have until weekend to decide and reply for the place offered!
Hello,
I have been offered a place by a university for January 2010. They say they have offered me this place of academic merit but would not be able to fund my course. Since I am in international student the fees are considerable.
Whatever scholarships I have looked until now start from October term. Can anyone help me regarding this? Does anyone know of a Scholarship for international student starting January 2010?
Regards,
Amit
Hello Webbasenetwork,
It depends on whether you are an UK/EU National or qualify as an International Student. I am going through the same crisis of finding a funding.
Best wishes,

Hello All,
I am Indian national living in the UK since September 2006. I am presently on Tier 1 visa. Can come on tell me, since I've lived in the UK for over a period of 3 years, do I qualify for Home student fees for a PhD? Or as an International Student?
Hello Someone3,
Come on! Be simple and honest. Say what expertise you have, what you bring to the table with all your experience. How does the current post "fascinates" you. you letter should reflect that you are eager and would do justice to the job!
All the best!
Hello!
I wanted to know, how much role does the University play for the future prospects? Say, doing a PhD in a University ranked in 70s than one which is ranked in top 30.
I know, the project and supervisor mean a lot as well, but having got PhD from a better University would make a significant difference?
