Hi Satchi, thanks for yr reply. I live with my husband & daughter - I can't think of leaving them for job. It is not easy for me. Life is comfortable for me as hubby earns well & yes I don't mind being a housewife. The only thing that kills me is that I do not want all hard work done to get PhD wasted. I don't need PhD to become a housewife. SAD !!
Hi Satchi, Thanks for yr reply. I do have more than 8 yrs of experience but not in UK. Also. The experience is working with international orgs, not in academia. Therefore, I do not have teaching experience & I am not looking for the one in Uni as well. But, I do love researching & applying for Researcher positions - mostly rejected as I have no publications as yet. Have been applying in charities where I always wanted to work but seems my lack of UK experience is a hindrance. Don't know when my day will come :( :(
After getting another rejection letter today, just thought to write here. The strange thing is I did not feel bad at all. I am so much used to it now !! Never thought that after all the hard work to get PhD, life will be so difficult again. I now have left energy to apply more but I also feel bad to make my PhD a complete waste. Just for the sake of this I will be applying few later next week :( :(
Thanks Satchi, yes slowly recovering now. I am thinking of applying from next week onward again. But, the positive thing at the moment is I have been appointed a 'Visiting Research Fellow' in my own Uni and glad that it will save me for a year. By the time, I plan to publish few articles. I will also have some more experience. The voluntary role doing in one organisation is going well too. I have my articles getting published in their magazine as well as in the website. All we can do is hope for the best !!
Hi Satchi, hope you are well. I had a rejection y'day again. I went all the way to the University to attend interview 6 hrs travelling...the irony is as soon as I reached home back from interview, a rejection email was waiting for me....that was too quick. Don't even feel like unpacking my stuff. the overnight stay & travel was tiring & the rejection letter was too sad to think of now. In a way I am happy that I do not have to relocate leaving my family but not happy either by the series of rejections! I don't think I will ever be financially independent...what a shame.
Thanks Satchi ! I did email to my supervisors for their permission. Received permission from one and waiting for the other one. Anyway, meeting the other supervisor tomorrow regarding the revision in the article. Happy that the article got very positive note despite asked for few clarifications and revision to send for publication in an International Journal. In the mean time appointed Visiting Researcher in my Uni for a year and hoping for a productive year. Swetch
I have been invited for the job interview in a University. I have not got any article published yet. Recently, an international journal emailed me for the corrections need to be done in my submitted article. Since the interviewers are willing to see some of my write ups, I am wondering whether I should send the article which I sent for publication. I am the main author and my PhD supervisors are co-authors for the article. Not sure whether I am allowed to send the article anywhere else when it has not yet published. But, I do not have anything published till now, have no choice too. Or, do you suggest to send a chapter from my PhD thesis. Please suggest. - Swetch
Hi Satchi, I applied to more than 100 jobs. Many I don't get response and I think I got more than 30 rejection letters but now left counting. Once I apply I just forget and don't even expect a call or email. I am kind of sick of these things. I actually don't have any expectations now ! It is tiring and I am actually tired. Have not applied anything recently but thinking to apply today - though there is no hope that I will get any response.
