I had 3 years in the neck from before I started as was on an AHRC funded project, who also funded my PhD. I submitted recently in 3 years and 2 months...I did it by writing up 2 chapters by end of year two to 80% of final level, then writing bits daily and then taking six month at the end to completely write up. I was 95% there within the 3 years but its hard work and majorly stressfully. It can be done but I felt grotchy and grumpy and needed lots of tea to get me there.
I thanked my main supervisor, my co-workers on a larger project I was part of, people in the department that helped (lab support, director of research), a general dept thanks (as didn't thank my 2nd supervisor directly as he had no input in 3 years), my family (as a formality not out of wanting to), and a couple of friends who had truly helped me thru my PhD.

Thanks brill suggestions (up) however hardly a holiday, I had one day off in six weeks of fieldwork and worked 10 hour days minimum! Still finally got my final final copy back from my supervisor and properly submit shortly! I got delayed as sup decided to read it line by line but wait 2 weeks before she started that!
Hello everyone. Hoping to submit next week (so 3 years and 2 weeks) despite many ups and downs. I am trying to decide what to call my thesis and my supervisor and I just laugh when coming up with any. I have been looking at the Romans and environmental change, their interactions with the environment. So far I have: Late Holocene Environmental Change at Castelporziano. I would like something before the colon but I am stumped...any bright ideas?
The three little pigs, each with regard to the environmental impacts building their houses caused! Normally I prefer human-environment interactions, but deforestation and industry with making the bricks could be an interesting twist!
Has anyone read the comics that are are based on fair tale characters are living in our world?

Edinburgh uni I had to contact and they told me they were waiting for a reference, 3 months later they still were! They didn't even think to tell me this, my application got forgotten about. So I would contact them and find out, just say you want to know the state of play with your application. Good Luck.
I am sure I have said this before, but anyway! My max is 80,000 and I am in a Geography department, my supervisor said to aim for around what your suggesting that way if you write more its not a problem. Her PhD, granted probably 30 years ago now, was 27k and one junior lecturer who is a biographer/ecologist was 21k a few years back. The postdoc in my office, did her here and hers is 55k. I was told my director of research to remember its only a PhD not a definitive works!
Hey. Judging by your name are you doing something ecological? I would use CANOCO if you have access to it, or C2 (which you can get a version of for free if you don't have a license). SPSS is not good for complex data sets. If you need to know more let me know.
